Safe to say this game has better graphics overall than BF 2, and the HDR is really cool.

With my system at these settings:

1680x1050
4xAA
16AF
Everything High
HDR < Highest setting
MSTransparency AA

Edit, let me fix some settings and I bet I get higher FPS. (70fps before but I forgot I had some stuff altered that I was trying in BF2)

Ok, looks like with settings above I'm averaging mid to high 70fps, which is really good IMO. The textures are definitely higher res than HL2... really looks great.

Game is awesome!

There are plenty out there. You guys should see this for yourselves though.

I get nearly 80fps with all those things turned to ultra high at 1680res !! Game is gorgeous and by far the best graphics of any game out now period


Valve should be given a medal for how well they can design enginges! I'm really impressed!!!!

I'll have to try that too.

This game is freaking GORGEOUS!!! It looks like a lot of the lost coast stuff is in here, which might be another reason they released this first ... seriously I cannot say enough about how gorgeous it looks.. props to valve for being AAA programmers!

Looks pretty nice, I just ran around a few of the maps. The HDR effect is quite nice, graphics overall are good. Framerates are tolerable.

As far as I can tell, yes, DoD is only multiplayer (and only seems to have 4 maps, for now).

thanks . . . so it is much like the original DoD [HL mod] ported over to the Source Engine. . .

. . . and i can'd 'do' multiplayer . . . stuck on dialup . . . i'll have CoD2 demo d/l'ed by Thursday :(
 

Im very bummed that my x800xl runs so crappy, i have to turn alot of stuff down and i still get crappy fps in all servers i have tried. 30 fps using the 1280xwhatever widescreen res.
 

What i want to know is how much better the 7800gtx and the 7800gt are in this game compared to my x800xl.

Seriously, this game is definitely a next-gen quality game... Make sure to turn up all options to highest if possible, (I also turn on Trilinear mipmaps) and just explore the map... I'm honestly shocked at how good it looks, heads above anything else that is out now
(althuogh I'm still dling CoD and havent' played it yet)


For me to run this thing at nearly 80fps and 70fps on a full server is a testament to how well Valve programs and how CRAPPY some other games are designed. And this is an ATi engine too in terms of who runs it best

It's nice when you explore with your own server... but try joining a 32 player server on Anzio... :-/

Oh ya I forgot that comes out today......... To bad my system cant play it yet heh. Still need my cpu, and vid card.

I'm getting about 30fps (as far as I can tell...I haven't actually turned the fps counter on to be sure), but it's at 1680x1050, 4x/8x, full HDR, high everything...so it could be worse. :)

Edit: 6800GT @ Ultra speeds on a 2.4GHz AXP here.
