Why? Why are people so bothered by necros?
Nah, more like how many posts until we get walls of text explaining how Plant would beat a tiger in a fight but that Coverdale would lose to a lion....this is not a rock forum. How many posts until you start trying to spam us junk to sell?
oh, I see you'll fit in well around here...for the remaining ~4 days of your tenure.
are you also known as Silver Prime, or perhaps Mayne?
:hmm:
plant destroyed his voice with heavy cigarette smoking. Had he not smoked his present day voice (and appearance) may be very different. I recall Roy Orbison sounded nearly identical possibly better in later life..to the best of my knowledge Orbison didn't smoke. Coverdale is a better technical singer then Plant and prob.had early on voice training that allowed him to make the most of and preserve his voice. As far as voice preservation and getting better with age Shirley Bassey gets the gold star. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51Wg6k9cWhM
IGBT .. I have to agree with you! Although Plant's voice is still fairly decent, it has been destroyed by smoking! He can't hit those high notes anymore .. What a shame, especially if there ever was a small chance of a reunion! I have heard so many of the older, great bands that still sound amazing! David Coverdale is one of those singers! His voice still sounds great! Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth both sound great also! Actually Hagar sounds amazing! Hall and Oates too! Steven Tyler also sounds AMAZING, however, even though he can still hit those high notes, he is selective in his song lineup as to save his voice .. can't blame him! They have all smoked heavily at one time, however, Robert Plant still smokes! I've always loved Robert Plant's voice, however, I do think that in these seasoned years David Coverdale has a smoother/stronger voice then Robert Plant .. not a better voice .. just more of a time honored voice! Luckily for him .. for all of them!
Not trying to get off topic, but here is one of the best songs EVER by a "crazy" but fabulous guitarist, a vocalist that is still fabulous after all of these years, and never got enough credit, and a song that is the best that I've ever heard!
Ted Nugent, 'Stranglehold'(co-wrote with Derek St. Holmes, and vocals by Derek St. Holmes)

Abstract
The human larynx is essential not only for speech, but also for swallowing and respiration. Its tissues are affected by the presence of alcohol and cigarette smoke. In this report we present our findings on the effects of smoking and drinking on histological changes in laryngeal tissue. The larynges studied were those of autopsy patients: cases with damaged tissue were excluded. We studied the larynges of 84 men (non-smoker and non-drinker, 22 cases; smoker and drinker, 62 cases) and 48 women (non-smoker and non-drinker, 40 cases; smoker and drinker, 8 cases) between the ages of 12 and 88. The squamous metaplasia of laryngeal epithelium was examined using the gross staining method (Pyronin Y) of STELL et al. (J. Laryngeal. Otol. 86: 589-594, 1972). The squamous epithelium is unstained, whereas the respiratory epithelium is a brilliant red. The area of metaplasia in the supraglottic region increased with aging, tobacco and alcohol consumption. Microscopic changes of the laryngeal epithelium were investigated using the hematoxylin-eosin staining method. The thickness of epithelium of the supraglottic region and vocal cord increased with age. There is a significant difference in the thickness of the epithelium of the supraglottic region and vocal cords of smoking and drinking patients, when compared with the same tissues of non-smokers and non-drinkers. Furthermore, there is a significant difference in those tissues of the supraglottic region of heavy smokers, when compared with light smokers, but no significant difference when compared with drinkers. However, there is no significant difference in the thickness of vocal cord tissues when comparing light smokers and drinkers on the one hand, and heavy smokers and drinkers on the other.
IGBT ...I think he quit smoking cigarettes years ago, but still parties on occasion..lol, and smokes pot! I'm sure that he realizes what the partying did to his life! He made a lot of unwise choices, as we all do at such a young age, and no voice training, along with vocal nodules hurt his voice a lot! Funny how all of these big bands partied hard, but most of them still look pretty good! I suppose a hard life affects people differently!
I forgot to tell you that I listened to Shirley Bassey .. and WOW .. what a voice! She's still amazing! So is Roy Orbison .. loved that video .. and what a star studded lineup! I even saw Billy Idol sitting in the audience!

Robert Plant belongs in life-sentence prison for stealing-for-self-enrichmetnt the creative intellectual properties of Negroe musicians of the US Mussissippi delta.
There is no controversy, this is FACT.
Robert Plant is a TRULY evil person.
Out of all the brilliant bands of that age I rate Zeppelin a lot lower than most their peers. That's not talking them down at all. I just felt like they were always a bit cheesy.
Don't know...a buddy of mine is a professional opera singer, and he says that smoking and boozing really aren't a big deal to your vocal chords. I mean, sounds strange to me, but I value his opinion over most others.
That's way off in my opinion. The only band I rank above them is the Beatles, with Pink Floyd just behind (though my 'best album' goes to Floyd).
