Things like this are why i want to go out of my way to see the aging rock giants, you know before they die. People like King Diamond and Yngwie Malmsteen are getting up their in age, and i'd love to see them in concert again.

people consider that music?

anyway rip

The thing with the melody and the riff and the harmony ... yes, that is pretty much exactly what music "is" .... If you are not familiar with music, or wish to learn more about it, here is the wikipedia entry. You can learn more about music!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music

It has notes and scales and instruments and sometimes people making noises with their hands or even their vocal chords! Music is amazing.

It's really sad that are not familiar with music and have never heard of it before. You should check some out, you probably would like a lot of it!

A regular reoccurring guest on Red Eye 🙁

[edit]
Hearing him in conversation always impressed me because you don't expect a person in a costume like that to speak so intelligently. Great improv ability too.

RIP, you will be missed.

yeah, back in the day before we had internet, it was difficult to hear about those types of bands unless they were mainstream radio 🙂

Exactly.

And growing up in rural Texas meant you had to know a guy who knew a guy...

It was the whole spectacle. These guys were/are very creative and talented. Best shows I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot.)

Loved that band. Saw them in 1997 after the last day of high school. What a great concert! RIP Oderus.

No way they can replace him, not only was he the front man, he had an incredible singing voice for metal.

I'm now sad that I've never seen a snow. 🙁

Also, scrolling through the list of musicians who have died this year is really crazy... lots of year left...

i'm confusing this with Lordi .. not sure i ever heard gwar. they weren't really metal, right? more like, kiss?

RIP

Gwar was one of the first bands that I found in my teenage years that showed me there was way more to music than what was on the radio.

One of, if not the best, live shows I ever saw. Really sad because dude was actually very smart and funny.

RIP. 🙁

And from reports, a very nice guy in real life. One of the few human beings that really cared about others.

There music was a little weird for me to just listen to regularly, but their stage shows always a great WTF/Did they just do that? moment.

Red Eye talked about Oderus / Brockie Monday night. I figured they would say something in his memory because he has appeared on the show several times as the "interplanetary correspondent."

They talked about Oderus' first time as a guest on the show. He wore a thong in the Fox News studio. The costume smelled horrible (perhaps why he calls himself "Odor-ous?") and he left lots of ass sweat on the seat where catholic-priest-and-FNC-contributor Father Jonathan had to sit next :awe:

I knew they existed. But back in teh days when you had to actually *buy* music, there wasn't enough money to go around. I was also spending my money on getting the classics, like deep purple and whatnot. I guess their image didn't have that immediate appeal to me, as Kiss never did either.
I'm not prejudiced against them, i'm sure they could be good even with the masks and all, but i was more into Ozzy n stuff, and that filled my need for gloomy music quite well.
Besides, there was always a Weird Al album to buy whenever i had the money.
