One of, if not the best, live shows I ever saw. Really sad because dude was actually very smart and funny.

RIP. :(

I am surprised another ATOT patron would listen to Gwar. I typically view most of you as far too stuck up to enjoy such lowbrow entertainment.

I read about this a lunch. Really sucks. I'd met the guy a few times and he was incredibly nice. Must have been wonderful making a living goofing around with your college buddies on stage in a metal band for 30 years though.

Loved that band. Saw them in 1997 after the last day of high school. What a great concert! RIP Oderus.

No way they can replace him, not only was he the front man, he had an incredible singing voice for metal.

Have the released a cause of death?

I've read a few news postings that said his roommates (wtf) found him

The police released it wasn't suspicious and a full autopsy will be performed, but haven't speculated a COD yet.

And yes, it looks like his roommates found him, sitting in a chair, dead. It is kind of strange to have roommates at 50, but perhaps he liked the company.

Im more wtf that he had to have roommates with his fame, im taking it they didnt make much money over the years...or they didnt manage it well.

A slut I know fucked the entire band of GWAR back in the day. I didn't know whether to be shocked or laugh b/c it's something I know she would do, and the fact that she was bragging about it in 2011 when Smoot died and how sad she was. smh

It might have been more to help out the production guys he was friends with. IIRC, all the costumes and stage props were made by their group, and I can't imagine the guys building the stuff made nearly as much as the the musicians. It wouldn't surprise me if he still lived with his college buddies that started their stage show. I know a few of them were accomplished musicians on their own (Cory Smoot, for example), so it wasn't like they were hurting for money.

If it was, in fact, 'back in the day' she didn't have sex with Smoot anyway. He joined in 2009, IIRC.

I feel bad for those that never got a chance to see them live. I saw them quite a few times and they were always amazing. It was certainly worth it every single time.

I only got to see them once and I will never forget it. Was supposed to see them a couple more times after that, but they were not allowed across the border for some reason. :|

I'm sure it probably had to do with Canada not allowing felons into their country or something and one of them was a convicted felon. It might have just been the touring company not seeing the ticket sales and venues not wanting to book them.

The rumour was, as I recall, the current Beefcake at the time had priors and was not allowed across. Had no way of verifying it of course.
