I think this show is a JOKE.... 85% of of the men watching are wanting to see more of the 15 year old in her bathing suit switching on the jacuzzi.

I don't know what to make of it. I guess they sure arn't doing anyone any favors. I don't see the hard core thugs getting caught. I guess things will get real interesting when they invite the wrong dude. Then when John whatever his name is ... The dateline host walks out to ask him questions he is gonna rip out his side arm and blow him away. That ought to get the ratings up...

These are just idiots they are getting off the street. They are just stupid. Most of them have no clue what they are getting into. Just a bunch of sex addicts I guess. They want to do the nation a favor? Go after pimps and ICE dealers. Then I'd say they are doing something good.... Locking up idiot / retarded sex addicts that come with the entire list of items to bring down the beer and condoms .... haha sigh. Get real... These dudes need to get a life and therapy not go to jail...

It's one thing to be a sex addict.

It is another to be addicted to sex with a young girl who is 13

Before you assume that this was a one time deal with these guys, how do you know?

Obviously they know where to find these kids in the chat rooms, they know how to talk to them, they are on the prowl for some kid who will volunteer themselves for the sexual gratification that only a child can bring them.

I am sure many guys on this board will self proclaim that they are "sex addicts" but if you ask how many would sleep with a 13 year old, I bet 100% of those so called sex addicts would say "no way"...why do you suppose that is?

Why not search out a parent whose child has been molested by a man 3x her age and tell them that in your opinion, he is not as bad as some drug dealer.

What these people did was wrong and whatever the situation is. However, I don't like the way Dateline NBC is doing this. One componet of their wrong decision is that they are now charged with a list of serious crimes. Another componet is that they are televised and you all know how news organizations skew things. Millions of other people have been caught for the same thing under some sting operations. But it wasen't televised nationawide. They are trailed, sentenced and when they got out however long that was they needed to get back into the system of getting a job, getting their life back together. Some of those very same people you could be working with, going to class with and could even be your neighbors. You may not even know they did anything. However, with dateline your face will be known by millions. Even if the situation where you were found not guilt and released into the public again. You will be living with a constant stigma. It's more/less not fair.

No offense but I'm quite sure I have a lot more experience with these kinds of people than you. Actually I have sent a man to prison for life for child molestation. I just don't think there's a lot of redeeming value in a show that exists solely to revel in the pain of these men.

so what if it exploits their pain? They are grown men who make conscious choices.

These are not impulse actions like when you are in line at the grocery store and suddenly decide to grab a Coke out of the cooler by register.

Some of these men drive HUNDREDS of miles to get to their prize. That is plenty of time to realize that maybe, just maybe it isn't a good idea. The fact is they are not thinking with their heads, they are thinking with their d*cks and because of that conscious poor decision they deserve everything they get.

Everyone of those sob's says "I'm sorry" they are not sorry for going there, they are not sorry for looking forward to sex with a minor, they are not sorry for the language they use in chat rooms, they are sorry for getting caught period. fvck 'em.

You've managed to completely miss my point. Nowhere have I expressed sympathy with these men or suggested they shouldn't be punished. I just don't see the redeeming value of a show busting dozens and dozens of them. It clearly isn't a deterrent, in that there have been men busted on the show who specifically mentioned Dateline during their chat sessions with the target "child."

I have watched most of the episodes and have come to the conclusion that men are stupid as hell. The show should be a clear warning that in some states(not sure of the number) that even if you don't show up to the meeting, you have committed a crime. The thing that floors me is when they catch the same guy or two in several different stings! I mean what is it going to take to get it through these guys heads, there are no 13-14 year old boys/girls on the internet that want to have sex with middle-aged men :)

I watch it for the comedy factor and to laugh at Chris Hanson's inflated self-opinion.
