Well, this isn't entrapment to begin with. What these people do (perverted justice i think it was called) is simply put up fake blogs and websites on myspace and such... and the pervs contact them. Not the other way around. If they had gone through myspace, randomly emailing men to see if they were interested, then that would be entrapment.
I saw Trillian on one of their computers, and they said that they wait for the predators to contact them. I used to think that these decoys would join chat rooms and say, "Hot 13/f wanting to talk to a guy!" or something else equally ridiculous, but that appears not to be the case. These predators do indeed seek out these girls with their intentions being obvious.
I hear ya, and I understand that. I was actually referring to the pedophiles that do entrap kids, seduce them, play all sorts of games with these vulnerable kids, that is a form of entrapment right there.

What about the argument that pedophilia is like any other sexual orientation in that it's genetic (automatic/hard-wired)? Like my boss likes to say, "There was never one single moment in my life when I simply decided to be gay."

Pedophelia isnt an orientation. It's a disease. And the majority of professionals agree it cant successfully be "cured".

Well, she isnt just someone "I know". I was married to her for thirteen years, and we had many discussions about this. Seeing how she is a professional who has dealt with/deals with this issue, I definately think she has more clout than most clowns on a geeky tech board.

Typically a pedophile is not attracted to post pubescent, and vice-versa.

Actually, given the definition you provided thinking could be a crime. I'm thinking specifically of a sex offender who was convicted of violating his parole for writing his fantasies in a journal.

I highly doubt that. Unless there was some provision in his parole. If this were true, every sex offender would be violating his/her parole when they go to their therapy.
And, as invasive as our gov't is getting, it is still legal to THINK anything you want.
