She's a freakin' idiot. I'm tired of any Hollywood celebrities that think they can live higher than everyone else in the US - like they themselves are the only gift to humanity.
During the interview, Jolie is just spitting out randomized standard garbage about the starving kids of the world. "They are smart. They can be taught too." OMG.. Holy fvcking sh!t!! What a revelation!!! The poverty-stricken kids of the world CAN be taught too.. just like us white Americans.. OMG Who knew that? Thank God Angelina Jolie told me..
The only reason the kids of the world are in poverty around the world is because their idiot parents can't organize into a functional society. But, let's not focus on the lack of ability for their societies to function.. Let's just think about the children!!!

How is she an idiot? Because she has money? Because she is famous? That's something she cannot escape. She is doing more than most people. It might be easier because she has oodles of money, but that doesn't change that she genuinely seems to care.
OMG, man, what are you doing to help out world problems? It seems you just create some, hater. I myself respect the fact that she wants to do her part. It isn't her fault that she is famous and still wants to do something. It is because she is famous she can do so much more. People like you need to get a clue. It is also called media. I am betting you there was a lot more to that interview, but only the apparent FLUFF stuff was put in because that is what would make people watch the show.
All you guys who agreed with this are hilarious. If you were in the Peace Corps, or working for the Red Cross, or Compassion Int'l, ... then maybe I would shut up, but most of you are just haters who in reality are just jealous of people of success who are doing so much good in the world and you downplay their accomplishments to make yourself feel better. In other words, most of you are people who lack self worth and decide to use the internet as an outlet to trash everyone else. Screw you.
And, yes, there are people out there in the world that make huge differences, even more than Angelina Jolie, but I am betting you, that half of you can't name even a few, other than the famous ones like Ghandi or Mother Theresa. How about Paul Brand? Or Chuck Colson?... ever heard of those guys. I can name even more. Or are you going to look them up on wikipedia, and claim you knew a whole bunch of people before you started trashing someone who is trying to do something of significance.
Again, if you are posting out of some shanty in Africa, helping out the poor, then I apoligize, otherwise, stop hating. I do my part by using my abilities (programming...) to help out charity organizations... I do other things, and I donate to certain groups as well, so don't even try to turn it around.

It is only the people with low self worth, who hate because they really have no accomplishments of their own of any real significance that say otherwise. They may not admit it to themselves, but the reason they hate wealthy, or smart, or funny, or articulate, or beautiful, or kind people is because they are jealous. Why be jealous, appreciate the fact that there are great people out there, and make it so that you can be inspired by them. Make them people that you can try to emulate and one day maybe accomplish the same instead of hating. Jeez people, grow up, figure out what you are good at, figure out what you aren't good at, and be proud of who you are. Work on the things that will make you a better person, and you will become a better person.

It's obvious she's not doing the "save the children" thing as a publicity stunt... we know she doesn't need it and the weeks/months she spends there herself amongst those people tell the story too. If nothing else, she can use her popularity to open people's eyes, even if she's not doing as much as a "real humanitarian" who has dedicated their entire adult life toward the same thing. So what. Motive tells the story - and to put her down because of what she already is... what's the point... unless she's stealing the spotlight from you - someone who's doing more. :roll: If I'm donating millions anonymously and she gets all the credit/notoriety for having a camera crew follow her around just because she's famous, then _I_ can b!tch.

She's using her celebrity status to make a difference. Don't blame her, blame the morons in this country who care more about who Tom Cruise is dating than the "REAL SMART people working on the problems of the world."
It must suck being a celebrity. You get criticized for not doing anything substantial, but when you finally do something substantial, out of the woodwork comes people like brxndxn.
what an ignorant statement. there are many "REAL SMART people" who would disagree with you. may i suggest reading The End of Poverty by jeffrey sachs...perhaps his credentials would be to your satisfaction (PhD Harvard, former Director of International Development at Harvard, currently professor and Director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University).
why hate on celebrities who have chosen to use their privilege in life as a platform to help others. do you know angelina jolie is a UN goodwill ambassador/spokesperson? each one is hand picked by the secretary general of the UN based on previous work and background. they have done more good for humanity than someone who just sits back and complains and blames. look at what bono has done with his status, the amount of awareness and money he has raised for the AIDS epidemic, and with a humility and zeal that is refreshing.
Self-Hatered and jealousy won't get us very far in this world. She is useing her celebrity status for humanitarian purposes and i can't think of a better way to use it then this. she is helping people. if not donating money, then opening the worlds eye to third-world countries that need our help.

man some of you people are seriously stupid. she is helping more than you ever will, and irregardless of her motives, which seem to be morally and ethically inclined, she is still helping tons of people. her status as a movie star is not important in this situation other than it gave her the financial ability to do what she is doing.
