stories like those amaze me. People getting arrest for letting kids play outside? is this the world people want?
fuck i guess when you have saying fucking retarded shit like "She is 13 years old man. They do not think like adults" i guess it is.
I agree the level of ridiculous protectionism has gotten out of hand, at the same time, pointing out that 13 year old children do not think like adults is a valid point.
We know as a society that children lack the knowledge, experience, and emotional control to think and act in a rational adult manner; this is exactly why children have abridged rights, and their guardians are given a high level of control over their lives - they are not capable of properly caring for themselves.
As for this particular case, I would suggest this should be looked at in the context of recent events. In recent months there has been a lot of news coverage about young people protesting perceived injustice by ... sitting in the middle of roads. Given that my children (who are a few years younger) asked about the protests, I'm confident this girl was aware of them. Further, depending on leanings of those around her, she may have gotten a sense that their actions were good, even heroic.
Now an adult would be capable of seeing the wide gap between a large group of people blocking a road, and a single hard to see girl - but at 13 that distinction is easily missed against a background of overactive emotions and limited experience (for instance, 0 experience driving)
Obviously I, nor anyone else here, knows what this girl was thinking, but I am just as inclined to see her in the light of a misguided child emulating behavior of others as to see a brat having a tantrum.
Also, I find it really hard to believe the driver has not been arrested - everywhere I have lived merely having an open container of alcohol within reach of the driver of a vehicle has been sufficient to arrest.
