Sorry to say what I'm about to say but W(hy)TF did the hospital let her go home?

That could be a stroke and/or aneurysm.

Was this in the US? Jesus...thats frightening...especially when I'm a medical professional and friends with one of the best neurosurgeons and one of the best neurosurg residents nationwide AND I work in a trauma hospital ER. They needed to at LEAST keep her overnight.

I hope she's alright and DEFINITELY consult a neurologist about this...

AVM? :Q

Arteriovenous malformation? Yea definitely a chance of that too. CTA of the head would be great for seeing if that is the case.

I'm wondering where did they treat her Userman? Did they rush her right back into a resuscitation room/trauma room? Or did they just treat her in one of the general ER areas?

Again, not to scare but she would have probably been a medical code if she came to us. Or at least triaged as a level 2 on the ESI. We don't mess around with symptoms like your wifes.

The local hospital is small and very underfunded. They kept her in the ER till she woke up then moved her to ICU. After the MRIs they moved her to a general room. She pretty much checked herself out this afternoon. She hates hospitals and once she makes her mind up the only way to stop her is to drug her. She signed a form saying that they would not be held responsible for any legal action if something happens.

I'm keeping a close watch on her and have one of the doctors personal cell. Also the ambulance service is on speed dial.

So heres to hoping for an uneventful night.

Ok now I feel a bit better. And no offense I hate it when I get a patient like your wife...so hell bent on leaving 😛

I can understand how she feels, hospitals are very intimidating, I used to hate them when I was a kid now I practically live at one. I wish her the best of luck and I'll keep you both in my prayers.

*curses the half broken(and broke) medical system*

I was all for drugging her, but she wouldnt hear of it. She's fricking headstrong sometimes. But it was what she wanted.

Sorry for the rant. I just needed to get the tension out of my system.

No need to apologize, dude. Rant as much as you want, our thoughts are with you.

Ill be taking her to ST Louis tomorrow to have a full battery of test ran. So hopefully we will know more by this weekend. Anyone know of a good way to blackmail someone into staying in the hospital?

Damn, that's awful man, I hope everything works out ok for her.

I get severe migraines too.. I get 'transient paralysis' with mine.. limbs go completely numb.

tell her we hope she gets well soon

That sucks. Maybe something is going around. I spent Sunday in the ER for almost exactly the same thing. I didn't pass out though.
The took a CAT scan and did a spinal tap. I have another appointment tomorrow.

It's more like bribe/cajole. You'll know what will work.

Paging Dr. House?

hope they figure out what's wrong....a friend of mine just started getting really serious migraines too, and it seems that nothing can make them go away. Why is this so little understood?

I hope you get good results when the tests come back. I can understand how you feel and hope this does not happen to her anymore.
