Yesterday Afternoon my wife had a really bad migraine that just hit her all of the sudden and after a minuted or two she collapsed. She didn't come too right away so I took her to the ER. They tried smelling salts(That smelly ****** thats supposed to wake you up) After 2 hours she started to come to. She complained that her vision was blurry.
Her vision returned to normal after another hour, They MRIed and X-rayed her head/back. We are waiting on the results to be read.
They released her about 20 minutes ago and shes home asleep now. Everything cleared up and she feel fine.
She had ovarian cancer for over two years before she had a hysterectomy last fall. All the results that came back on the checkups and test have been good and that they havnt found any sign of cancer.
So we find out later this week on what the MRI and X-rays say.

I'm hoping for some good results or at least the problem to be found.

Sorry for the rant. I just needed to get the tension out of my system.

UPDATE

Made it through the night ok. She ate breakfast and is getting ready to travel to ST louis.

Ill update when I can.

Oh wow... hopefully it was just the result of a horrendously bad migraine. Not that that's something to wish for, but it's better than a lot of alternatives.

Good luck!

That sounds like a brain aneurysm or something, not just a headache. From no headache to unconsciousness in only a few minutes? I wouldn't trust that, and I wouldn't want them to leave the hospital so soon.

My thoughts are with you. I know how it is to live with the spectre of cancer.

Good luck.

You are a wonderful husband for worrying about her and being there for her.
I hope you get good results when the tests come back. I can understand how you feel and hope this does not happen to her anymore.

Best wishes to a speedy recovery. If the diags come back neg you may want to consult with a neurologist. They may request a spinal tap. :Q

Sorry to say what I'm about to say but W(hy)TF did the hospital let her go home?

That could be a stroke and/or aneurysm.

Was this in the US? Jesus...thats frightening...especially when I'm a medical professional and friends with one of the best neurosurgeons and one of the best neurosurg residents nationwide AND I work in a trauma hospital ER. They needed to at LEAST keep her overnight.

I hope she's alright and DEFINITELY consult a neurologist about this...

Good for you. My dad wouldn't (and still won't) take my mom to the ER unless she's doubling over in pain (and she HAS cancer), even when she requests it, but that's a whole other can of personal worms. Gives me some hope for humanity.

Hope everything works out. Hope it was just a migraine. But if that was all it was, that was a SHOCKINGLY bada$$ migraine. I'm no doc, so I dunno, but it makes me suspicious. I'm surprised they didn't keep her in the hospital for further observation.

Anyways, good luck.

Wow, good luck with that. That kind of experience is very scary and I'll be praying for the best for her.

Arteriovenous malformation? Yea definitely a chance of that too. CTA of the head would be great for seeing if that is the case.

I'm wondering where did they treat her Userman? Did they rush her right back into a resuscitation room/trauma room? Or did they just treat her in one of the general ER areas?

Again, not to scare but she would have probably been a medical code if she came to us. Or at least triaged as a level 2 on the ESI. We don't mess around with symptoms like your wifes.

Sorry, but there is no reason to sit around, and listen to people offering worst-case scenarios before the reports come in. Call a friend/family member over and talk about random things. Save the worries for when the reports come.
If all is good, praise the Lord, take her out somewhere nice and pray to the Lord for good health.

If it's something bad, start worrying then, care for her and get her the best medical attention you can. You've taken care of your wife while she fought cancer - it goes without saying that you are a strong individual. Always remember this - your wife needs to feel she is married to the greatest guy in the world, and you have to do your part to justify that feeling.

The local hospital is small and very underfunded. They kept her in the ER till she woke up then moved her to ICU. After the MRIs they moved her to a general room. She pretty much checked herself out this afternoon. She hates hospitals and once she makes her mind up the only way to stop her is to drug her. She signed a form saying that they would not be held responsible for any legal action if something happens.

I'm keeping a close watch on her and have one of the doctors personal cell. Also the ambulance service is on speed dial.

So heres to hoping for an uneventful night.

Ok now I feel a bit better. And no offense I hate it when I get a patient like your wife...so hell bent on leaving :p

I can understand how she feels, hospitals are very intimidating, I used to hate them when I was a kid now I practically live at one. I wish her the best of luck and I'll keep you both in my prayers.
