Gee, first I lose 20 lbs in 6 weeks, then I start running/biking every day, next my lipid profile improves just like he says it would, and now I have to start eating more to keep my weight up.

I wonder what tragedy will befall me next?

I dunno. Wish I had your problems 😀

Just started Thursday, and I am down 3 inches on my waist. My old suit fits again.

Ever wonder why diabetes and obesity are so rampant?

Humans are hunters/gathers who are intended to eat meat, fish, vegetables, fruits and nuts, not refined carbs and foods loaded with sugar.

If you want to be healthy, forsake the 21st century diet.

So I'm at that site and I can't find the regime to follow. What is the regime? Don't eat carbs? Eat meats? I can't find the diet information there. If you have it, post it. I'm shooting for a nice goal. I want to lose 15lbs by the new year. That gives me three months to shed 15lbs. I think that it is doable.

2 people at work are on this diet and oh my god they lost SO MUCH weight in the last few months.. it's insane!!

That's easily doable without Atkins. Just watch your total carb intake, keep a good balance between fats, carbs, and protein, and EXERCISE.

I don't think you even need atkins to do that. 🙂

Basically, eat good quality meat, fish, or tofu, non-starchy fruits and vegetables eggs, oatmeal, cheese and nuts. Avoid sugar, white bread, white rice, potatoes, corn, baked goods, fruit juice, soda, cereals, pretzels, rice cakes. etc. Avoid low-fat foods since they are usually loaded with sugar.

Personally, here's what I usually eat:

Breakfast: 1/2 cup oatmeal with 1/2 cup soy milk and a 1/2 cup fruit, 1/2 cup whole yogurt, 1 protein shake
Lunch: Spinach salad with turkey breast and blue cheese dressing, apple with peanut butter
Dinner: Meat, fish, or tofu, fruit, vegetable, cheese, 1/2 cup whole yogurt, 1 protein shake before bed

Snack: nuts, cheese, hard-boiled egg.

Occasionally I'll eat low carb deserts my wife makes with soy flour/low-carb bake mix and sucralose (sugar substitute). She recently made peanut butter cookies and bread pudding which were really good.

For someone like me that hardly has time for exercise, but can watch their carb intake, this diet does wonders! I've dropped 26 pounds since August 11th, and it does suck to give up my favorite foods (cereal, OJ, pizza, mexican, sodas, candy), but its well worth it!

I should give it a shot. Im not overweight really...6'2 210lbs, but id like to get back to my 34 waist and drop about 15lbs.

diets a diet. eating less calories loses weight😛

i lost weight on the eat less diet.

Eating less is good but it's more important that you eat the right kinds of foods, otherwise you're likely to be hungry and not many people will continue a diet when they are always hungry.

Of course too, all calories aren't created equal.

Dudes, what exactly is wrong with cereal? Yeah, maybe the sugar...but overall, it's pretty nutritious in the right quantity.

What about drinking beer? I play in a dart league every week and we drink so please dont reply by sayin "dont drink". Should I switch to mixed drinks or is light beer ok if I dont eat carbs that day?

And this 'refined carbs' business is bad? Just wondering why. I think lowering your carb intake 4 hours before bedtime is better than cutting as much carbs out of your diet as possible. For example, I never eat pasta for diinner if bedtime is less than 4 hours after I will have completed my meal or if I plan on just laying around. But don't be mistaken, you do need SOME carbs during the day!!!

Stick with a low carb lite beer if you must drink. Also, mixed drinks with diet soda should also be ok. Just in moderation.
