On a side note: Im about 5'10 140 pounds, pretty little guy, but I want to build myself up the best I can. More so upper body, thats my weakness. What is the best/easiest way to do that? Are push ups the best way?

Pushups, DIPS are great.. Pull ups..

Some weight is your best bet.. But do get a little form those 3 are the all around exercises...

I know it as push-ups where instead of having your hands far appart, you make a diamond shape thumb to thumb and index finger to index finger. basically pushups with all the force in the center.

Well...if you can't do 10 pushups I really wouldn't recommend trying to do pullups because I highly doubt you have the upperbody strength to do even 1/2 of one.

To get better at pushups you have to do...well more pushups. If your max is 10 (and I'm somewhat reluctant to believe that someone can only do 10 pushups ;)), then start doing sets of 8 pushups. Four or five sets of 8 should help get you started.

If you're looking to improve your fitness all around, however, you're going to have to incorporate running/swimming/bicycling/walking and some lunges, dips, and unweighted squats.

True..

IF you can find someone, get them to stand above you when doing pushups.. Once you hit you limit have them spot you by pulling your shirt up a bit..

This will help you break through those muscle fibers and get more reps..

When you do a "diamond" are you meant to spread your fingers or keep them close together?
I think I just did 15, and I'm pretty out of shape. (Diamonds that is) - fingers spread.

Can't even do 10? That's PATHETIC, maggot!

(I can do 90-95)

Diamonds?

90 is really good, did you wrestle before?

I can push about 65-70 but good solid pushups... if i cheat i can do more..

:p

I can do about 40 diamonds.

Never wrestled.. I did, however, join the Army (but was unable to complete Basic thanks to a bone spur in my left heel, which prevents me from being able to run long distances).. We did lots of pushups.. :)

Ya 40 diamonds is nothing...

:D

The thing about diamonds is that they hurt your wrists more than anything else. Once you get used to doing close-arm pushups (which work different muscles than wide-arm pushups), diamonds aren't that hard.

Pullups are a lot harder. Start doing curls to get the bicep strength, and start working your way up as far as count. Don't be surprised if you can only do one or two at first.

correct me if i'm wrong, but to build mass i think you guys need to do more weight, less reps, right?

instead of 100 pushups, i think you'd need to hit the bench press.

Nah, the more sex you have, the stronger your abs get. Well as long as you're on top and you can last more than an hour. ;)

Once again you have found excuses to make. This time it's some explanation for why you're out of shape and justification for refusing to do the work.

I've got news for you, Crazy Person: There's no magic that will last you in the long run. You need to take responsibility and make the initiative to get back in shape. If running is too boring for you and the gym is out of the question, what about other types of exercises you can do in your backyard? You can buy videos and exercise everyday as a routine. Or what about walking with others to make your experience pleasant? I don't lift weights, do push ups or do those heavy things, so I'm only limited to running, walking, and playing sports for exercise.

Stock shelves at Walmart (furniture dept preferably), or work as an unloader there.

How to fix your pushup problems? Do as many pushups as you can, take a break... Do it again, take a break... and lastly, Do it again. Wait a day. Repeat.

As long as you have willpower, you will be able to do a couple hundered pushups in no time.

I am so sore from playing basketball for 3 hours yesterday :(

if you have access to dumbbeellss, you could do plenty.

maybe do some biceps one day, then pushups next day, triceps next, lunges and squats cavles, deltoids by doing lateral and frontal raises. then go back to biceps.

Hold your hands together with your index fingers and thumbs touching so as to form a diamond pattern. Now, like that, palms flat against the ground, do 40 pushups.
