All I got for possession of about 2.5 grams was a fine (< $200) and 6 months probation. Ha-ha! ;)

for such small amounts, that's about all it should be too, imho. Now, carrying an ounce or two or more.. sure, jailtime and heavy fines make sense. But for a few grams? A dime or eight? No biggie. That's what some provinces in Canada got right, and I think a few states here in the US too.

I agree with the OP that Texas sucks. Possession of that small an amount here in Oregon isn't even a crime.

It's a gram of weed, trolls. A "dimebag." A 6-pack of light beer packs more of a mind-altering punch.

i've personally had a Texas cop attempt to weigh seeds and sticks in my floorboard to try and take me in..

i told him i parked my car under a tree with the sunroof open..

he threatened he could still arrest me, but eventually let me go.

LOL! I don't think he'll get sympathy here.

i dont like alcohol, but i would sympathize for someone who got busted with a can of beer, if alcohol was illegal like mary.

and it's ironic that alcohol is much worse health-wise.

Again an unsupported statement!!

the first reason this is BS....no one measures MJ by the gram. That's coke. Pot is measured in ounces and pounds.

We measure it in grams.

But based on the OP's history on AT, I'm calling shens as well.

Meh, Im a suicidal mess that is dependant on antidepressants.

I really don't think they can put people who are danger to themselves in simple prisons...

1 gram? Damn, I thought that's a pretty harsh punishment...but then I saw that you're in Texas.

Dude, move out of redneck hickville.

yep.....

that's what got me in a mess of trouble too...

i ended up sitting in county for a month over a 1 gram poss. charge

Yep, it's a good thing they're incarcerating people for 1 gram of pot in Texas. Got to keep the quality of life up there you know.

Let's see, we could let him off with a slap on the wrist and he could go back to work and be a productive member of society or we could toss him in jail for a month, at taxpayer's expense.

It wouldn't shock me if you start seeing Texas enact laws banning even thinking about cannabis.

Want to know the reason Texas is tough on drugs? It's not because we have nothing better to do, it's because the drugs come in from mexico into Texas and then to the rest of the country. We are trying to do something about it.

Here's a little tip for the OP if he is serious and not being a douche(dime) bag and looking for more attention. STOP DOING DRUGS if you don't want to get put in the pokey. You are breaking the law, take responsibility for it. Don't blame anyone else except yourself.
Oh and do us a favor, move to California, your cry baby attitude will get you further over there.

Good, lock him up. And they should lock you up while they're at it.

I can't stand people who want to whine, b!tch, and complain after the fact.

drug ed class
60+ hrs community service
suspended license for 6 months
narcotics anon classes
and $1000+ in fines
not to mention the $1000 bail.

all for 1 gram. that's about 1 cigarette worth for the non weed savvy people.

Texas pot laws are RIDICULOUS.

And yet he chose to use and carry pot despite these penalties...
