heh it was pretty mucky before too so fish wouldn't have lived long. it was more of a decorative fountain in the past really, so its not that big. it dries out after a while, its not more than about 3/4 foot deep.

liquid detergent...then softner, i'm going to increase the toxic stew till they die.

Fish don't really mind algae and other plant matter. Mosquitofish seem to be particularly hardy and apparently you can often get them free too.

a little bit of diesel fuel will work(or so my father told me years ago). it floats on the water, sticks to the critters and suffocates them.

I used to work at the factory of Summit Chemical and made those mosquito dunks! Random fact for the day about shocksyde.

Gasoline + match (gas floats on water, right?)

Agreed. Mosquitoes eventually get stronger than pesticides and what not but one thing is for sure fire is always deadly 😀

shocksyde also has one of the lowest average posts per day I've ever seen :Q

I don't know if ya can still get diet pills over the counter, but if ya can, dissolve them in some water and mix with the water in the pond.
Makes them starve to death.

for god's sake... bleach? detergent? WTF?!?!?!?!? what ever happened to goldfish? a natural, and very pretty, decorative solution to control water life.

People here are great.

OP asks for help with problem

OP receives reasonable answer to problem

OP ignores reasonable answer to problem and proceeds with own non-working solution

Next post by OP should be a complaint about how "nothing is working".

Yeah, light them on fire already. They would light YOU on fire if they had the chance. Everyone knows mosquito larvae are evil.

Please.

Not a poisonous chemical.

Use nature's way...stock your pond with the little fish, I think they're called "Gambusia" or something similar. They look approximately like a plain, female guppy. They'll live happily in your pond & eat all the mosquito larvae.

Not much to look at, but they're unobtrusive & effective.

go to a hardware store (menards, home depot) and look for something called "mosquito dunks" or whatever else it may be named. Its basically like a charcoal briquette that prevents mosquito larva from hatching, and it doesn't harm any other living things.

It doesn't prevent them from hatching, it's loaded with a bacteria (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) that excretes a crystalline toxin that kills the larvae. Works great!

Sounds like a winner, I hate chemicals.
