Fish don't really mind algae and other plant matter. Mosquitofish seem to be particularly hardy and apparently you can often get them free too.

Not a poisonous chemical.

Use nature's way...stock your pond with the little fish, I think they're called "Gambusia" or something similar. They look approximately like a plain, female guppy. They'll live happily in your pond & eat all the mosquito larvae.

Not much to look at, but they're unobtrusive & effective.
