Damn... Lost in shipping?

I sold a calculator to a member of this BBS, & shipped it to Canada per his instructions. Of course delivery confirmation & insurance ends at the border, so it was shipped plain air mail. Cost me almost $7 to ship the dman thing, too. :| Anyway, that was two weeks ago. Tonight I got an e-mail from him saying he still hadn't gotten it.

I sent him an e-mail back asking him what he wanted to do, & offered him a full refund if he wants it. I figure I'll write my loss up to the Canadian postal service, & drop it at that.

What would be fair?

Canada Post is SLOOOOOWWW, probably why it hasn't arrived yet. Remember, it has to go through Customs, where they will undoubtedly slap a hefty fee on it just for passing through the border...

I'd give it a week more, and if it still hasn't shown up I'd do something...

Call the nearest customs office to where it would cross and explain your dilemma. It may be hung up there for some reason. I had that happen to me once and the customer called them and it was just sitting there til they got damn good and ready to let it pass.

USPS probobly lost it before it even hit the canadian border...lol...they lost a mobo/cpu/hsf combo on me...it was sent out sept 22nd...still nothing...and i cant claim insurnace since the person wont send me a letter saying they havent got it (required to claim)...oh well...

Value was supposed to be set at $30. My mom mailed it, I didn't. But I gave her all the info, & she's mailed stuff before to Canada for me, so I trust her.

I only ask, cause I sent something before and didn't declare (or forgot to declare) a value. It was help up in customs until they contacted me and got a value - for the purpose of duties and stuff. Just a thought?

Hey Viper! Thanks for the Hedge Hog. I'm in the same dillema with a shipment that I mailed. I set it air mail and they didn't give me(Or I can't find) the reciept. Where would be the customs office to contact to get this resolved. I shipped from Tennessee to Regina, Sask. Any ideas?
