There's a reason why it's dead technology; just gotta pay the premium for a quality lcd.
Quality CRT > quality LCD, I've seen hi-quality LCD's up close, I'd still take a Diamondtron CRT 10/10 times. The fact CRT's a dead technology means nothing to me. The day I find a Diamontron on CraigsList will be the day I get rid of my LCD. 4 years ago I ditched a $700 24" LCD for a 22" Trintron, and if that hadn't went out I'd still be on it.
Canon abandoned SED like 3 months ago

I <3 my Dell 2209WA
I wish I could compare it to my old Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930SB CRT but it weighed a shit ton and was starting to die. I had to take it out back and put it down.
Lots of people are into the FW900 (24" wide screen CRT)...IMHO about 99% are doing this because they can't afford a top of class LCD.
I had a 21" Sony G500 (I still use one at my office), but I *heart* my NEC LCD2490WUXi.
$600 NOS. It was a 'refurb' but had 0 hours on it.
I will instead comment that I appreciate the fact that my LCD monitors don't require me to spend a ton of money on a desk just to support their weight and allow me to function just fine on an ikea desk or repurposed kitchen table.
That's just it, you never had to spend a lot of money. There are TONS of used gov't/military issue wood desks, TONS, that all screw apart and are built to handle anything. I got my first one for $3.
People, and there are many, who have them know exactly the desk I'm talking about. They came in many slight variations including a lowerable mid-section for a secretary with a typewriter, but they are all instantly recognizable as being of the same family/design.
Last move, I foolishly gave mine to one of my friend helping me move.
Bad google picture of one:

Funniest thing I remember about CRTs was how some dorks pronounce the abbreviations!
NEC pronounced "neck" and CRT pronounced "curt".
They say "my NEC CRT" sounds like they are saying "my neck hurt".
So I say "Where did you hurt it?"![]()
CRT= a continual blast of electrons to the face. so no thanks ill take the lcd anyday
