It doesn't matter when the movie came out, everyone has seen it and it's still the best movie ever.
Period.
If you don't get princess bride references, you don't deserve to be entertained by xkcd.
i went out with a girl who had never seen the princess bride. so i made her watch it....

I don't "deserve" to enjoy XKCD because I haven't seen some shitty chick flick (yeah all I know about this film is the first couple of sentences on Wikipedia). Whatever.

Duh. really?
Princess Bride...
You forget, the princess bride is on the dawn of recorded history for most of ATOT. I always wondered how many posters saw the original Star Wars when it was released in the theaters.

I do. It's my first memory as kid, and I was almost 4 years old in June of 1977 (born in Sept '74) when we saw it. I remember waiting in line for over 2 hours, and then the power going out in our showing, during the cantina scene. A car hit a power pole, and we had to come back at a later date.
I don't remember that showing, though.

Much of the humor is lost on chicks

I made that mistake the first time when I was a kid.
"Princess Bride? Yeah, no thanks, I'm gonna go play."
Then I saw it a couple years later, and found out it was awesome.
