Yeah I am a beer snob....

'Tis true. It's a low rung beer that people, after their first upgrade from the bottom-feeders, think is the greatest in the world. Add Corona, Heineken, Killians, Newcastle, and Stella to that junklist. But whatever... 'long as it floats their boat

but most of the bars here dont have killians or anything close... not in bottle, or on tap. the closest thing i can get is Yuengling. Dont love it... but I hate the whole Bud/Miller/Coors things, so...

Just buy Heineken. That's what I do. :)
heineken is too smililar to the rest. just at a much higher calibe. not a huge fan.

I am not a lager fan. Some of the higher caliber brands are ok, but I stuff like Bud/Coors/Miler... YUK.

I like Ales and Beers. Unfortuantley... they are not easy to find in my town. And I dont drink and drive... so... occasionally I will find a place that will something like:

Killians
Becks Dark
Sam Adams Ales.
AmberBock

all of which i like.

usually, I just do Absolute and Tonic. Saves having to fool with what beers the locals here dont have.
;)

Being from Texas I take it you aren't very familiar with Pennsylvania Dutch country, which includes its own dialect of German, so shut up about the last thing.

As for the beer...yea you can shut up about that too. Just because a beer is popular doesn't mean its bad. I've had my share of good beer...like $50/case types, and most of it I don't really care for. Besides, why the hell would I want to pay that much money for beer anyway? Waste of money.

So you drink beer as a socializing norm, I drink it for taste. When I throw parties, the kegs are Shiner Bock grade or better. Moreover, good friends at a good pub is much nicer than 200 underage kids huddled around 4 kegs of Icehouse.

I like steak, you may like hamburgers.... whatever keeps you full, buddy :)

Texas has a huge settlement of Germans who speak common Deutsch... the same Deutsch that is prevalent today and the same Deutsch that I've learned 3 years of in Uni. The FAQ rather vaguely and misleadingly stated that the word is German, not the specific "Deitsch" that it actually is.

I never said that popular beers are bad. Beers like Guinness, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, among others, are ubiquitous but also excellent.

Good beers don't cost 50$/case, and you certainly don't have to pay a cent for beer if you don't to. You can pay and get the minimum of everything that you need in life. That's what I like about our capitalist system. What about you?

Gonna have to disagree with you on that.

And on average how many people had heard of it 2 years ago?

I would bet overall in the country, maybe .01%

Yeah the brewery is the oldest in America. However, it has never been popular until the past few years. It is totally a fad and will quickly go away once people realize it really isn't all that great of a beer. I have no doubt it will stick around in small crowds but overall its popularity is a fad.

I pretty much witnessed the migration of the fad down the east cost. I travel up and down the east coast for work. About 3 years ago, I was in a bar in Washington, DC. Bartender said they were carrying a new beer. I tried it, and realized it was nothing special.

Few months later, went to Norfolk. It was showing up there now.

Basically I watched it move down the coast. People were raving about it. Pretty stupid.....

People like change and like new things. That is about it.

MARK MY WORDS, The next crappy beer to get lots of pub and have people raving over it is Mobius beer. Absolutely awful tasting but hey, it has taurine, ginseng, and caffeine in it.

The brewery has been around forever. Its a local brew that is growing at an astonishing pace(its now the 6th largest producing in the nation). Say what you will about how its spread will continue, but people have been drinking it around here for almost 200 years, what makes you think we're gonna stop anytime soon?

Its not a bad beer. Its one of the better lagers out there. Snooty ale fans like to talk sh!t on every lager out there. I can't help it your favorite style of beer tastes like piss.

Um... first of all, the beer in question IS a lager...

Second of all, you realize that "lagering" is the process of fermenting at a very cool temperture to avoid putting flavors into beer?

Pale ales, and India Pales, were made by the british to ship to their soldiers in other countries. they would take a typical light ale, add some hops to it (they used them as a perserving agent), and ship them. It's quite customary.

You want to be a real man? Come drink an Arogant Bastard, or a Ruination, or a Dogfishhead 120minute with me, and we'll see if you can handle a whole bottle.

pussy.

First off....umm of course I know Yuengling is a lager, thats the point.

You missed the point, the point is I was exaggerating what he was doing, back at him. Ale fans like to be snooty little asses, thinking they are above everyone else, but they don't seem to get through their thick skulls that its just a different kind of beer...its like a rum fan thinking they were better than a vodka fan.

Oh, and trust me, I can finish a bottle of any beer you can give me.
