So I asked my gf to get me the new Tricked out edition of the Fast and the Furious for our anniversary. She doesn't look and ends up buying me the FULL SCREEN edition. This will look like crap on my widescreen HDTV.

Stupid me pulled off the outer wrapper before realizing it said Full Screen on the bottom. She doesn't have the receipt. She felt really bad so I said I'd try to find out if there's any way to return it or exchange it for the widescreen one. But I hear best buy's return policy isn't too good.

What should I do? I hate full screen DVDs, they get all stretched out on my TV.

You should start by getting better taste in movies you suckhole.

Uh, just go try to exchange it. What do you think they're going to do, beat you with a waffle iron or something? They'll probably be reasonable about it, especially since they supposedly came out with that new policy recently of really trying to help their customers as much as possible.

I'd just take it back and see if you can exchange it for the widescreen version. I can't see them having a problem with that. It's still the same movie after all, just in a different format...

First off. Apologize to your GF. Tell her you didnt mean to make her feel bad. Then go to BB, ask to see a manager and explain the situation. They get full credit for DVDs when they send em back to the manufactur. Dont try to be sneaky cuz it probably wont work. I worked there for more than 2 years and found that if people were polite and friendly they can often get what they want if it is a resonable request.

Yeah, it must suck to have your gf buy you a gift.

eBay the Pan & Scam version and rebuy it.

I'd rather be out $20 than expose my eyes to the horror that is a Full Screen DVD.

hahahaha laugh it up fvckers. It was an agreed upon gift because we're both trying to save money since my job is in jeopardy.

hahhaa, i'm sorry, i just realized this.... but it's ur anniversary and she bought u a dvd....? puah hahahahhahahahaahahahaha

You guys are assholes. Leave him alone about it being a bad movie or a bad gift. He's just asking a simple question about what kind of luck he can expect returning it. Assholes.

Edit: Shiva, do you still have the outer wrapper with the Best Buy barcode and price and all that on it? That will probably help when you go to return it, as it would show that you bought it from Best Buy.

Yes... yes, we are. No use trying to deny it.

I think what most of us are wincing about is the fact that it was his gf that was thoughtful enough to get him anything at all, ESPECIALLY if they're watching funds (Shiva was right, the response would definitely be different if he had not mentioned it). My gf got me Golden Sun: TLA a while back. It's still in the damn shrink-wrap, but heck, she even pre-ordered it, and that fact alone made me think of how wonderful my girlfriend really is. I didn't say "dammit, don't you know I still have to finish playing through the first game?!"

I sure hope you broke the news to her gently, Shiva. Girls are a LOT about not just what's said, but HOW you say them. As far as returning it is concerned, good luck... but if it doesn't work out, here's a fresh perspective: maybe it was meant to be.

And Mugs, We're just telling this assnut to get his priorities straight.

If you're in the profession of pointing out assholes, just don't forget the author of the thread.

I will provide a prepaid shipping label if your still gonna toss it.
I would suggest to Toss it in a fedex box with my return label.

lmk 😉

Okay calm the hell down buddy. Did I say I smacked her across the face and said buy me the right one next time bitch? No. And yes I did break it down to her gently, in fact if you read the whole thread I actually thought about not telling her about it and just replacing the DVD myself. She usually checks for Full Screen vs Widescreen, she just made a mistake in not checking this time. I was purely asking if there was any way to exchange this DVD without a receipt. So don't be so quick to pass judgement when you obviously don't even bother reading the whole thread.

dude, i don't mean to pass judgement. i was just messin with you. anyways, i did read the whole thread. i was just over-dramatizin' just to give this thread the attention it deserves.

seriously, good luck with that return. more seriously, good luck holding down your 9 to 5. and most importantly, continued happiness to you and your (quite thoughtful, though not too bright apparently - j/k) gf.
