I thought about not telling her completely...and just tossing it in the trash and getting the widescreen edition myself...but then I figured I need the receipt to return it so I thought I'd come clean. I do feel bad, but I figured maybe if she had the receipt I could straighten it out.

heh I'm guessing all you guys that hate the movie are big car tuning enthusiasts...I know a bit about tuning so I can see why it pisses you off. I just think its entertaining. For those that aren't into cars much...car tuners see this movie the way us computer nerds see the movie Hackers or Swordfish.

I've grown to find it quite amusing how QUICK people jump down other people's throat whenever dissatifiaction with something is brought up here. Good god, you act like he wants to sell his children into slavery.

If you can't return it, don't picth it. Just try hunting up a place that sells used movies, sell it to them. Should be good for at least $5 back, especially seeing as how it's the newest edition. There's some git out there that'll probably buy it BECAUSE It's full screen. It's like when DVDs were first coming out, 95% of all releases were widescreen. Now 90% of all new releases come in both flavours, BLEAH.

The only stuff I have in my collection that's full screen only is a copy of Charade and Arsenic & Old Lace. (Both Cary Grant, how amusing). Well, and a few TV series, but that's natural in those cases!

All I am saying is that if it doesn't you could always take it back to best buy and exchange it for one that does..............

I hate full screen DVDs too, because you're missing out on close to half the movie with pan and scan... I want to see what the director wanted me to see. But as far as them getting stretched goes - can't you change the settings on your HDTV to put bars on the sides the screen so it doesn't stretch out? I've seen them do that... I'd hope it's a feature of all HDTVs. Good luck returning it though. 🙂

i'm somewhat of a tuning enthusiast, i don't hate the movies, i just can't stand the people that think those cares are the sh!t, or that those cars are all crazy fast, or that what happens in the movie is cool... entertaining, yes. cool? no.

and to shiva112, if ur gf bought u something, shut ur mouth and be happy, geez... some people!!
 
damn, i HATE it when people give me gifts! i'm just like you, shiva, if a gift isn't EXACTLY what i wanted, i throw a hissy fit and make the giver feel "really bad." that'll show them for trying to be nice to me! stupid lamers!

My cousin was able to exchange a full screen that he had bought for himself once. He did have the receipt so it may have made the transaction possible but I'm sure if you sweet talked the customer service rep they would be willing to do an exchange for you. After all, it's not like you're trying to get your money back....you just want a different format of the same movie.

Oh yeah, dump the girl....how can she be so clueless as to buy you a full screen DVD....the nerve of some people 😉
