All the usual (for me) signs...back of my throat irritated, sneezing, runny nose, and feeling almost "high" as the virus courses through my system.
I have almost a full box of the Costco "DayQuil" stuff...out of the "NyQuil."

I really don't want to add distress to anyone already suffering it.

I'm like Lewis Black's 103-year-old Moms -- or merely following my ancestor who is like Lewis Black's Moms. I get all my vaccinations, as I have for 25 years. My family -- two seniors plus myself -- got through the COVID epidemic without infection by anything, but my family here died in 2022 and 2023 of their pre-existing conditions. Nobody caught COVID; nobody caught a cold; nobody caught the flu.

Boomer's thread sounds like a sequel to his last one, and I just offer my sympathy and well-wishes.

I had something like that last week and I'm still not fully over it, I still have some congestion. I could feel it coming on last Sunday with the scratchy throat and Monday I felt like crap. I didn't have a fever just a TON of sinus pressure and cough. It wasn't covid though I tested for it. The worst part about it all was my nose being so stuffed up and the pressure behind my nose. I felt bad for a few days but Monday was the worst and then each day I felt slightly better. When I went to the gym Wednesday to lift I felt very exhausted after too.

It sucked but I'm glad it's basically gone now.

At the moment, I wouldn't say I'm "having a bad patch" -- but there has been an underlying level of anxiety for a couple days now. I've kept up my daily walking (almost daily!). The anxiety derives from ongoing car repair -- with vehicle delivered to repair-shop today and an acceptable outcome anticipated. More anxiety as I prepare to acquire a new or pre-owned vehicle, but its all under control. There's always anxiety about being old, the uncertain future for an old person, nobody to talk to during the day. The walk generates endorphins and makes me happier.

But no cold, no flu, no COVID -- no arthritis issues, my lungs are clear today upon rising and before any daily walk. I'm going to "think positive". We should all think positive!

So I just hope BoomerD has an improving situation with this infection or illness. Things are tough enough in the 21st century for folks over 70, so some viral or other infection, or compromised feeling of wellness -- it's just a burden none of us needs right now. Heck! Just watching the news makes me feel sick!

I haven't been sick is three 3 years. Luck of the draw I guess as I haven't a flue shot in 6 or 8 years and only had the first 2 covid jabs.

In my family, all the COVID deniers have caught COVID, maybe taking Paxlovid. Those of us in this household got our flu, shingles, pneumonia, COVID and other shots as recommended or needed over the last 20 years. While two of the family here died of their old age conditions between 2022 and 2023, nobody ever contracted flu, common cold, COVID, pneumonia or any such infections over those twenty years.

I updated my flu and COVID shots three weeks ago.

At your age it's best to hit the walk-in, family doc, whatever, every time you start getting sick.

20 years without a cold or flue is a very impressive record.
