i felt like simplicity today folks, question...are you still living in same city that you grew up in? If not, maybe a why not? no need to get into stories, a simple "personal reasons" would be fine, or maybe for a job, military, etc.

If yes, maybe no reason to leave? You love your home town?
 
Midland, MI.

Pluses: safe, minimal traffic, very good public schools.

Minuses: winter weather blows, boring, not close to much of anything.


I don't really miss it.
 
Still living in the home town, but that will change soon as I'm planning on moving out to cali by this time next year.
 
26 years where I was raised, last 3 down here in Atlanta.

Moving back to Michigan as soon as I can afford it!
 
You need an option for "both". I currently live in the city in which I was born and raised. However, I have not spent my entire life here. After college I spent 6.5 years elsewhere (I also attended college elsewhere). Hated living in Virginia, love being back in Pittsburgh. Mostly it's about being here for my parents as they get on in age as I can easily pop over to their place to help out with the things they have trouble doing nowadays.
 
Syracuse, NY now in Atlanta

21 years in NY, the last two in Atlanta

Cold sucked, but was used to it, I have been in Atlanta for two years now going on the 3rd summer, the heat sucks, rather have it cold. Will be moving out of Atlanta when I can afford it.
 
So far yes, with a technicality. I do not live in Pittsburgh, I'm only stuck in this city until I'm finished with college, I still consider myself as living at home in Waterville, Ohio. After college though, I'm not sure where I'll be living. It will definitely be a rural area (or at least a temporary suburban rental) because I couldn't stand living in a city. It's bad enough with college, and I've got a three month break from it all.

46 years in the same spot! Once lived for 3 years in an apartment about 10 miles from here, but in the same county. It's a shopping Mecca, yet you don't have to pay to park. Major freeways 2 miles north and 1 mile to the south, yet our 30,000 sq. ft. lot is heavily shaded by very old trees. Taxes are cheap, cost of living is low and jobs are diverse. It's like having your cake and eating it too, though winter can be a bitch. Ain't enough to get me to move, though!
 
Well I've pretty much lived in the same town my whole life, though it is not the town I was born in, I'm only about 20 minutes from th town where I was born.
 
I am not in the same town, but in the same area i have always lived, and even though i may b!tch about michigan sometimes, it really is a great state!

How/why did you end up in CA? That is some place i would like to end up, but i don't think i could afford it...how did you do it?
 
I always cringe when I hear someone say they have kids spread throughout the country. The idea of being relocated for a job kind of sucks, too. I mean, so they throw you a bone, and pay for the move, increase salary etc.. Is it worth it?

It's different if you're the one initiating the move. My wife wants badly to move to a warmer state. We pretty much agreed on North Carolina near the mountains. I don't think the quest for a good job could tempt me to move anywhere, but there. Money talks, but the thought of traveling "back home" all the time, REALLY puts a damper the relocating thing. I HATE to travel!
 
I was born here, moved out to California for a few years, and have been back here for the last 17 years or so.

Pretty much born and raised.
