I really need to get one. I tend to look more at swiss army knifes because i like the extra tools like the screwdrivers. The other types of knifes are nice, i just like having something that can do more than just cut.

lol at paranoid ppl who carry knives around

lol at morons who think the only use for a knife is to hurt people. Do you cut your steak with a fork? Do you open boxes with your fingers?

i open boxes with scissors. i have a full complement of steak knives that are set out when steak is for dinner. no need to carry a knife everywhere i go.

I bet that if you started carrying a pocket knife your scissors would gather dust and you would find quite a few other situations in which it was useful. It's a tool that easy to carry around and easy to scoff until you realize just how useful it is in everyday life.

Some of us do real work, which requires tools.

I'd be laughed at if I asked to borrow a knife at work.

Edited for PCness. Some of the women around here do real work too.

Sorry, didn't know you guys loved to use knives so often. I'm a college student, so I really don't have a need for it. I'm sure you feel very manly and tough when you whip yours out though. Good for you.

Nah, it's not to make me feel manly, but I certainly don't carry one because I'm paranoid. 🙂

I have tinfoil hats for that.

I never realized how useful a knife was until I started carrying one. Same with a flashlight, although I only carry a flashlight (other than the tiny one on my keychain) when I'm wearing a jacket (I also have a bunch of cheap ones that I keep throughout the house). But even the one on my keychain comes in handy frequently. I can't tell you how often my wife says "where's your knife?" or "where's your flashlight?"

I can't find a picture of it but my knife is a fold out just like a normal knife but uses disposable utility blades. Very convenient at work and around the house

I carry a Swiss Army knife all the time. I also keep a Gerber Multi-Tool in my bag, which I take with me most of the time.

I use them as tools. Both would work for self-defense as well.
