Crap I can't believe I missed MoH for $7.50. Anybody know if a Mass Effect 2 key would be compatible with Steam?

Edit: No, it won't work on Steam.

I wouldn't touch a D2D game unless it came free, and without the craptastic DRM.

I understand the criticisms of D2D and DRM in general, but if it's cheap enough, what's the problem?

Restrictive DRM is often described as the customer renting, rather than buying, their games. But if it's $5 it's still a good deal. It's basically the same cost as renting a game but you get to keep it indefinitely.

I haven't have problem with D2D games so far, I'll get it if it's a good deal. Though the deals for the first 2 weeks either don't interest me or I already own them.

What's the craptastic DRM? I haven't bought anything from D2D in a while.

The only DRM D2D games have is the one the publisher/developer included. There's nothing on top. I have 8 games from them and don't have any extra hoops to jump through compared to the disk version.

Yeah, I was going to say that as well.

You don't need a Client running ala Steam, and at most I think all you need is a serial number from D2D.

Yeah, when you buy and download a game through D2D, you're basically getting all the files that would normally come on the DVD version in a zip file. Just unzip and run setup.exe and you're set. So any DRM that came with the disc version of the game would be present.

You can move that zip around wherever and use it to install to any computer you want provided the original DRM allows it.

Oh boy!

I can finally get Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2. :D

Hmmmm...

Mass Effect 2: "This product is only available for purchase in the United States and Canada."

:|

Well at least I can still get Bioshock 2...

"This product is only available for purchase in the United States, Canada, and Mexico."

UGGGGGGGGGgggggggggggg....

Ok ok. What about just today's deal? Rome Total War is supposed to be a good game and that's chump change for $2.50....

"This product is available for purchase worldwide excluding China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan."

FUCK YOU!
I knew there was a reason why I never bought any D2D games.

Bumping this for the Weekend since ME2 is going to be on sale.

There have actually been some better prices on some of these than I expected.

Well, today's the 8th, but it's still showing Max Payne.

Dammit, I wanted to get GTA4 before I go to work.

ME1&2 are currently on sale at the EA store I guess (40% off there). If you don't want to wait for the D2D sale there's always that.

I'm not sure what Time Zone they're working on, but I'd expect the game on sale to change in a couple hours.

Yeah, I saw that and decided to pick up ME2 there. I'll skip GTA4, again.

Not sure what you paid (can't access EA store at work), but Impulse (Stardock) has ME2 Digital Deluxe for 19.99.

It's $12 from EA (standard version, not digital deluxe).

I wouldn't pay $8 extra for a few PDFs.

I grabbed the Max Payne pack. I never played those games; they're fun. Great old school PC action.

I'm not that far into the first one yet, but who knew how much FEAR was influenced by it. Sneaking around the subway station, seeing bloody murdered employees, using bullet time etc.

I almost felt like I was having a flashback.

Wow! I found this thread just in time. I've been waiting for GTA 4 to go on sale. Bioshock 2 for $5 looks pretty good too.
