I dunno if others have had similar experiences but this router's range blows big time. :|

I hooked it onto my wired SMC Barricade router in my small 2 bedroom apartment last night, gave it a static WAN IP, etc, etc. Fired up my Dell AXIM, configured SSID and encryption-related stuff and walked into the 2nd bedroom and saw the signal strength drop from 100% to 40-60%. A neighbour a couple of doors from me has an SMC wireless router and I get a similar if not better signal from his!!! HORRIBLE!!!! :|

I'm tempted to take it back to OD regardless of how much it will be after the rebate.

my range is pretty good, when paired up with other dlink stuff. i got a fairly large house, and the router is in the very back room. works in my room upstairs and in the front of the house, where no othher router nor card would work (linksys, USR, proxim, siemens, smc, i tried all of those). signal isn't stellar in that room, but hey, it worked and that's all i can ask.

Well that's good to know, thanks. My plan is to throw a wireless NIC (probably USB) on one of my desktops and move it into my 2nd bedroom. I might as well try out a Dlink NIC first. We'll see how it goes!

Thanks,
Jack

I bought this a few weeks ago. If you notice on the rebate form, it specifically
says what stores this rebate will not appy to. For some reason, Office Depot
and Best Buy are on that list. This rebate will not work. This rebate being the
$20 rebate from D-Link itself.

Yes if you purchase this router in the store itself. That is why you purchase it online and print out your confirmation receipt and that'll be enough for the rebate. Even if you pick it up from the B&M store

will office max pricematch to office depots?

At office max they have it for $79.99 -$20 MIR

same at bestbuy 🙁

office depot near me is out of stock. I need it fast.

Don't get this router. I just bought one from OD yesterday and returned it today. It bit the big one.

No range - I was sitting in a room about 15 ft away and it gave me "Very Low" signal. It gave me the same "Very Low" signal everywhere in my house and even on my front porch. I once tried in the living room right underneath it and the signal was only "Good" - not even "Very Good" - so I returned it.

Testing out the Linksys G router right now and then will see how the Netgear MR814 works tomorrow.

I think you either got a bum router or you didn't set it up. I'm currently using it with my linksys wireless PC card. I'm in my living room through 2 walls and I have a 100% signal strength.

yeah, or you have some thick walls. works throughout my house. what card are you using? the card is very important as well, as i mentioned earlier. with 650+, it works great for me.
