Office Depot has the D-Link AirPlus DI-614+ Enhanced 2.4GHz Wireless Cable/DSL Router With AP 802.11b $67.74 - $10 instant coupon - $20 rebate = $37.74 shipped free. Item 613684

$20 rebate Exp 5/31/03

make it cheaper with a $15 coupon floating around. and are you sure it's 10 IR? i thought you still had to apply a coupon.

here are the deals i found on OD.

DLINK DI-614+ which will be 67.74-15 coupon - 20 rebate = 32.74 + tax and maybe shipping (not sure if free or not, but i think so)

DWL-520+ (PCI card) for 54.17 - 15 coupon - 10 rebate = 29.17 + etc.

and DWL-650+ f or same price as the pci card above.

Picked one up last weekend... Good for the price, but doesnt quite have everything I would want.

Also, has a problem (and yes, d-link acknowledges it, its not just me being stupid) where it stops "listening" for inbound connections with apps such as edonkey after running for a 12+ hours.... anyway, firmware will fix that, but I've already had more headaches with this baby than my DI 713P which unfortunately died.

All in all, a GOOD router, specially at the price, just expect to spend some time with it.

Yeah, I didn't see anything about a $10 IR. $15 off $50 coupon worked fine and the $20 rebate sounds good. D-Link also has this rebate mentioned on their site. I finally might have to go wireless! Any horror stories out there with this router? Can I turn off the router and use it only as an access point? I'd like to continue to use my existing SMC router and only use this as an AP.

Thanks,
Jack

I wish that there were some deals on 802.11a 5ghz wireless routers. I need one of those because of all the 2.4ghz phones we have. This is a very good router though, and a great deal.

Just change the channel and you won't have problems 😀

Not with Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum..... I would get away with that if I had Digital Spread though.

Anybody know if there could be a problem with using this rebate with the -$15 coupon since it (off of Officedepot.com) says "Not valid with any other offer"? By the way, the rebate form off of Dlink.com says that it's not valid at Office Depot (could mean B&M though, who knows).

Thanks,
Jack

I think you have to use the rebate form on the office depot website... because it goes through a different rebate processing place. However, the OD form is TERRIBLE quality even after printing, so it may take a stop to the local OD to pick up a real rebate form.

I think the coupons are sort of like gift certificates, so hopefully it won't matter.

I just placed an order for pickup in the morning @ the Tustin CA OD and will grab a form from there. I might check with them to see if there could be a problem with using the rebate with the coupon.

I placed the order last night for pickup at the Tustin CA store. I stopped by earlier this morning to pick it up and the manager came out and told me that he'll need to see the printed coupon. I told him that I don't have it anymore because I didn't think I would need it. I also said "You do realize that I could have easily had this delivered to my home or work and there would be no issue with the coupon" And he replied "Sure sure of course but since you're here now, we'd like to see that coupon because there's been problems with coupon fraud on the internet" And he added "I think there's a note somewhere on the web site to bring in the coupon with you"

I didn't want to stand there and argue with him since I needed to get back on the road to get to work! I told him "Well, I'm just gonna have to leave right now and will deal with this later. Maybe I'll come back. Thank you very much." Oh and by the way, they had already pulled one off their shelf ready for me!

I walked out of the store and called OD Customer Service and changed the order to be shipped to me instead!

Getting mine for $17 AR
The office depot called me and told me to bring in the coupon but a little sweet talking took care of that situation 🙂
Any idea if i can use this router as a wireless bridge for my xbox? 🙂

$17?? How'd that add up?!

added some envelopes (Which I really needed) to bring the total up to $77.
used the $20 off $75 coupon to bring it down to $57
used the 2 $20 MIRC to bring the total down to $17

I'm assuming that you're referring to the $20 rebate from OfficeDepot and the one directly from DLink. Are you sure that you can use both of those? If so, that would be awesome but I somehow doubt it.

Yes you can. I confirmed it with D-link and OfficeDepot.

the one (rebates) you guys are looking ended on 5/3

You're probably looking at the one listed on the OD Rebate Center section. Yes, that one has expired and it allows copies of the UPC.

The rebate currently on the OD router product site (Link) expires on 5/31/03 and must be postmard by 6/30/03.

The one on the Dlink site (link) starts on 5/1/03 and expires on 6/1/03 and must be postmarked by 7/1/03. It also mentions that the offer is not valid at Office Depot but OfficeDepot.com is not mentioned. They list Costco and Costco.com as invalid also which makes me think that OfficeDepot.com would work. But, as mentioned before, this one AND the current OD rebate require the original UPC code. I might try calling OD Customer Service to find out if they'll accept a copy but my guess is that they won't.

The person who here said that his price was $17 after both rebates, etc might have purchased his on 5/1 or 5/2 which would make the older OD rebate as well as the Dlink rebate valid.

i have 2 desktops and 1 laptop. i want to connect them together using wireless network (cuz it s inconvenient to dig holes in my house to run the wire from rooms to rooms). the laptop got a PCMCA card already, but the desktops havent. should i buy PCI wireless card or USB wireless card for them? which one is better in your opinion? i think USB is better, right? cuz plugging and unplugging is alot simpler. do you think 801.11b is good enough for a 3rd-floor-to-basement connection? using cable 1.5Mbps

i like usb better for desktops, just cuz placement is easier. might be only one spot in the room with signal, and an extension cable will help find it.
