D-Link DI-604 Router for $9.99 after MIR @ CompUSA

I picked one up yesterday myself. Installed and running within 5 minutes. Haven't had a problem with it since hooking it up. Seems to be a very good deal on a pretty well regarded router.
I couldn't find it on the website either....looks like you gotta visit the store.

Nice of them to add it last night. It wasn't there yesterday morning. I check d-link, routers, bridges, switches, and all. It wasn't listed on the internet sales version, either.
The thing does PPPoE auto-authentication...that alone is worth $10 to me (no more redial windows)....
is it a fast router?

I presume this (all?) routers come with the ability to route incoming traffic through based on port, right? Linksys calls it port forwarding.

lol...dude...it is $10. If you are THAT worried about the performance of a router, then you should probably be buying something high performance, i.e. Cisco gear. However, MOST people will find the speed just fine. I'm using this to partition off my roommate from my network (he is a computer idiot, so his viruses, etc. can stay in his DMZ)

I actually own two of these, one I have here at home and one I keep in my laptop bag for an on-the-go switch/router/firewall when I am at places with only one connection, etc.EVERYTHING is going to have good and bad opinions, but it just so happens that this particular model is $10...so I am guessing you will be VERY happy with the purchase. If not, go spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on a Cisco router and get the high performance you require.
I have this router. I find that I need to unplug it every day for about 5-10 minutes to give it time to cool down. I can be downloading at my max, then suddenly my downloads and uploads stop dead. When doing a Linux download, about 8 hours for me, I unplug the router for about 15 minutes beforehand to lessen my chance of it overheating.

I had a simialr problem. After 3 days of uptime, the lan and connections would die out. I'd have to hard reset the router and configure everything, was a pain the butt. I upgraded to the newest firmware and im going a month strong so far.

I picked up two of these bad girls today at the CompUSA in Monrovia, one for mee and another for a friend. Good times... great router, I hear. And it earned a PC Magazine award, according to the stick on the retail box I got it in.
hehehehehe... I already have a router, but I got this one for one reason only. Check it out: I go to a public high school and I'm 16, a junior. The admins for my school's network have made the network so that each classroom computer has an assigned IP address... any attempt to connect other computers (requiring another IP addy) to the network is undermined because of the settings. Using this brand-spanking new router, I'm gonna connect it to one of the CAT5 cables and split the connections so that a few select people I know and mee can use the school's dual-T1 bandwidth. with my laptop running windows 2000 professional(all the comps at school are Macs..ugh..) who knows what I could do :-D
.... muahahahahaha! gotta love technology. :-D

I am gonna go pick this baby up, then hit home depot and get 60' of cable, then a snap, crimp, and flip latter, mine soon to be computer on the other side of the house will be up and running.
I'm experiencing a similar problem with this router (it runs very hot)!
....Sure hope the firmware update helps.I got mine yesterday - works great! As far as heat - I see it came with 4 little rubber legs that when attached get it a few mm off the ground - not much but maybe enough to keep it a little cooler? I stuck mine in just in case it helps - who knows.
