Lately I have been irritated by the lack of critical thinking. Content is seriously lacking, and it's time to go if not forever, then for a while.

Adios!

So what we will have is more an even worse signal to noise ratio then before. I agree there is a lack of critical thinking and way too many personal attacks in here on all sides but I think it's so habitual and ingrained that one or two people taking action will have no affect. It will be of benefit to your own state of mind though, I would think. :p
I mean, seriously, banging your head into the same wall gets old after a while, even for political junkies.

America has lacked content since January 20, 2001 and hasn't thought critically since September 11, 2001.

Should we all leave?

hordes of your kind have already fled to canada. why not look into antartica ? open
country, baby. buy enough land and you can build yourself a pool and invite some
penguins over for the critical content you so desire.

Case in point....:( Personal attack in response to a broad observation. Round and round we go....
Where in HELL is "Anartica" anyway.... Is that where anti-Art people go? :D

If you people could just seperate your egos from your political parties it would result in more constructive dialogue me thinks. Oh that and stop taking umbrage at every little barb that is meant to push your buttons and get a flame war going, its like Pavlov's dogs up in here! :p

Same reason why I barely post anymore. It was fun at times but sometimes you get tired of the same 5 things being talked about over and over.

What else is there to talk about? Maybe we need an election or something.

Now you can play WOW with me.

Personally, I am never disappointed in this forum because I know that everyone here believes that what they think is true is good and points of view differing from that are a dangerous threat to that truth and hence to the ego of the proponent whose inadequate sense of self worth is built on a false belief in the soundness of that truth as if a failure in the correctness of that truth means that evil is what then must be true and not some deeper and unfailing truth that can't be taken away.

All this of course comes from the notion of right and wrong and how deeply that was beaten into us as children. The more deeply you were made to feel worthless as a child for being wrong the more tightly you will now cling to being right for fear of reliving that all over again. So there you have the catch 22. We don't remember how bad we were made to feel, so we cannot see our motivation. Without seeing our motivation we project it out on the world instead. That monster Moonbeam is trying to make me hate myself, but I've got news for him.

What a shame too, because if you are a Christian then you could know that you are forgiven. But even there, people just think it and do not feel it all the way down to the core of the origin of sin.

There is nothing we can do. There is only Grace and what that really is.

I do believe though that it happens most to those who are so disgusted by themselves that the realization they feel worthless isn't a very big step. I think that's why Jesus preached so intently to the Down. Odd world when low is high. One might think, upside down.

Then again, posting reasons why they are leaving might spark some reflection among P&N members, leading to some positive changes, you never know :)

It makes them feel better, though I'd perfer if they just left. No one really cares what you have to say over the interweb. Anyone real respectable person would never act this way in real life anyway.

Meh, crapola. I'll miss you around here Winston. :(

I've thought about leaving too, but I honestly don't know of a better forum to migrate to in terms of political/topical discussion and thought. What's the alternative?

Ahhhh, so that's where you disappear to for long stretches of time! Aha! BTW, I'm on the StormRage server (Grimslade) ... in case anyone is too - PST me and we'll kill stuff together. :)

Blogs are supposed to be so hot because of the interactivity as well.

StarWars, like Dune is just another story based on the Messaiah.

Dark Side - The Force = AMD / Pentium, no matter.

V-ger loves you.

Well, as someone already pointed out. It might have something to do with the drama queen within them. Still, they are two of the better members of this forum and it's a shame they are leaving. I'd prefer it if some of the trolls or extremists left, and these two stayed. But hey, no use crying over spilled milk. If they want to leave, so be it.

it can be healthy to embrace your inner drama queen every so often, I think :)

Perhaps. But I'm more of the lurking type myself, so I wouldn't know. If I were to leave, I'd just leave. Don't see the point in making a big deal about it.

Personally, I think people want to believe they're making human connections here ... and I think we do to a certain extent. That's why there is the need for the 'goodbye' letter.

That's a big part of it. If a person is a frequent-enough contributor here, and all of a sudden they seemingly drop off the face of the earth, we start getting "Where did x go??" threads on a regular basis. This kills most of those birds with one stone. We'll probably still get the thread though...just give it a few weeks :p
