And Merry Christmas in jail skank!

I'm glad I've never worked at a Walmart. Once you're there, people just treat you like animals.

Sadly, that's usually the case for many retail establishments. I'd say just look at this thread. How many people are too good to show their receipt? Personally, I refuse to shop there, but not because I might have to show my receipt.

Everyone is missing the other story.

Why is the senior still working?

Why not? Perhaps they don't have a fat, cushy pension...and their Social Security doesn't make ends meet.
I have no problem with senior citizens working. I'd rather deal with one of them than some self-entitled kid who thinks he's too good to actually have to work...

She is just a Simply Appalling, Vicious, And Gross Entity.
People really can be downright evil these days.

The problem with thinking you're clever is when others are more clever than you. I'm pretty sure you were well aware of the "savages" sticky that was at the top of Off Topic for months. We'll be discussing the length of your vacation. -Admin DrPizza (edit: I didn't mean to give any credibility to this post being "clever" - it wasn't.)

Let me save you guys time, just move on and ignore the post. This is what we members are told to do to people going for shock and awe.

Wow...it's the Christmas Vacation thread😛

As for the OP, there's some people with serious issues to think that they need to hit an old lady over something like this, it's not like it was a postal worker or something:colbert:

I find it interesting that there are special laws for attacking someone over 65. Weird.

Anyway, this lady is an idiot. Just walk out.

Because some here believe they are too cool to be bothered with or showing their receipt to a walmart greeter is beneath them...

Or is it because they feel their rights (not sure which right this would be though) are being violated when someone asks for their receipt at Walmart...what a joke...

It is a violation of my rights. Why is it such a joke? My contract with the store was completed when I paid at the register. Their rights as an entity end there. What's next, they can knock at my door and ask to see the receipt because they forgot to check it when I walked out their door?

HAHA, wow. Apparently you have a very poor understanding of common law. If Wal-Mart invites you into their shop, they don't have the right to violate your privacy. You seem to think this falls under some sort of castle law - in that case, couldn't Wal Mart stab you and say it's fine because you were on their property?

If there's a contractual agreement that you will let them search you, then that's fine. But that would require explicit agreement of this BEFORE you entered the store. Having a sign somewhere near the door, or somewhere near the counter, doesn't constitute a contractual agreement.

America takes seriously its citizens' right to privacy perhaps more so than any other country - so it kind of disturbs me when people like you have no problem with this right being eroded upon by corporations.

Kind of funny that a New Zealander has to explain US rights to an American.

Problem is they can't be sure you actually went through the register. IMHO the only solution to walmart is to exit you must go through the checkout and you must have at least one item. You are then taken via a cattle path directly to the exit.

Sure they can. All they have to do is pay attention. I've made eye contact with one of those receipt checkers before WHILE in line getting my stuff rung up & paying for it. Apparently, they forgot in the span of 30 seconds.

I always hold my receipt in plain view and walk straight for the greeters waving in their face. They usually just say "Goodnight" and without so much as a marker decapping.

(Does not apply to Fry's Electronics.)

It is a violation of my rights.

You are correct. The 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees the people the right to be free from unreasonable receipt searches, the right of the people to keep and bear Chinese merchandise, and the right of the people to peaceably assemble at the Subway/Pizza Hut by the Walmart entrance.

A greeter asking to see a receipt is a clear violation of your inalienable rights. I'm going to PM you the contact info of this nation's leading Constitutional attorneys that would be happy to take this to the Supreme Court, pro bono of course. This type of basic human rights violation should not be tolerated! ¡Viva la Revolución!

If they don't mark your receipt, many will not allow a return/exchange. You may not be obligated to allow it, but they can modify the terms of this contract such that you would best comply.

The thing is there is no such contract in walmart like this last I checked at the one closest to me.

Even then you can return the item and do a charge back as it's in your right and if they accept credit cards they know it.

I am going to guess we are missing a part of the story like the older women blocked the other woman's way when she was leaving as I doubt she simply punched her right after saying that.

Last I checked but since you don't have to sign any agreement like they do in costco / sams club you don't have to show the person your receipts and many times they bar your way from leaving and gets the employees / store in trouble then.

And that gives the woman reason to assault the elderly woman? That's some 'effed up thinking on your part.

Is it racist of me to assume she's black, or that she punched him because she thought he was profiling her for being black?

once the sale is completed (money changed hands). yeah the store does not have the right to snoop in my bags. I do have the right to privacy.

you can make fun of it all you wan. that one of the reasons peoples privacy has been eroded over the years. to many saying its no big deal.

For once Mike Gayner post the best post of a thread.
