Jacquetta Simmons Arrested After Punching Walmart Employee

New York woman was charged with two counts of second-degree assault after punching a 70-year old Walmart employee in the face.

Jacquetta Simmons, 26, assaulted Grace Suozzi on Saturday night after the Walmart greeter asked to see her receipts, according to authorities.
Simmons quickly fled the scene, but employees and customers chased her until she was surrounded. Not long after, police arrived and arrested her.
Police reported that when they checked Simmons' bags, she had receipts for all of the merchandise.

Jacquetta Simmons accused of hitting elderly Walmart worker

A Batavia woman accused of punching a Walmart employee as she left the Batavia store on Saturday ended up in the Genesee County Jail.

Jacquetta Simmons, 26, of 106 Ellsworth Ave., Batavia, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, said State Police Trooper Tracy Patterson.

Patterson said Simmons faces a second count because the victim, Grace Suozzi, 70, was older than 65.

Patterson said Suozzi was punched and knocked down by Simmons at 11:23 a.m. after Suozzi asked Simmons to see receipts for items Simmons was carrying in store bags.

After the incident, Patterson said, Simmons ran out of the store but was quickly surrounded by employees and customers until police arrived.

Suozzi suffered fractures to the left side of her face and significant swelling, Patterson said.

Simmons was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Patterson said Simmons had receipts for everything in her bags.

Now I'm not one to stop and show my receipts when asked (or to shop at places that do this), but I would never fight off anyone over such a silly thing. I hope she gets a good punishment out of this.

The holidays make people do crazy things. She was totally legal and chose to assault a senior citizen ... probably because she didn't want to be bothered.

Now she is in jail and faces prison time. Now she will have a record for the rest of her life.

At least she has her receipts!

Your thread title sucks. Walmart really needs to stop this policy. How many old fogies need to be hit to get them to stop? The lady that hit the old lady needs a good curb stomping.

I am going to guess we are missing a part of the story like the older women blocked the other woman's way when she was leaving as I doubt she simply punched her right after saying that.

Last I checked but since you don't have to sign any agreement like they do in costco / sams club you don't have to show the person your receipts and many times they bar your way from leaving and gets the employees / store in trouble then.

Jacquetta Simmons is a FUCKING IDIOT.

Way to never get a good job because you will be living the rest of your life with a criminal record for hitting a old person when you had all the reciepts. What a fucking moron.

The last time one of those old geezers asked me for my receipt, I instinctively dropped my bags and exposed my empty IWB holster, since he had clearly escalated it into a combat situation.

Heh, I chuckled. And props to your name and av, many props are in order for you.

not to devolve this into a race thread, but I would not be the least bit surprised if she took asking to see the receipt as a racial sleight - you only want to see MY receipt because I'm black, and everything spiraled out of control from there.

You saw how he gripped that walker, he was going to come right over it at you!

I was told by an attorney once that if a store security guard or store employee asks to search you, you can say: "I did not not steal anything but I'll wait here for you to call the police to come to make an arrest and I'll sue for false arrest if you are wrong." Obviously, a store security guard cannot search you without your consent.

Bit of advice. If you're ever arrested for anything, make sure you call a different attorney.

Leading contenders for the "make up facts in order to prove your political agenda" award.

My guess is that she ran to dump the things she shoplifted and only face an assault charge while coming off as a victim herself.

To be known as a shoplifter is probably more demeaning to her. So she choose it this way and poor grandpa had to eat the knuckle sandwich.
