CUSL2 mobo problem..please help.

I have just changed to a new mobo Asus CUSL2 from a P3V4X. However, the system fail to detect the external SCSI Yamaha CD-RW drive. Upon checking into the Device Manager, I found that there is a !(in yellow) besides the Adaptec AHA 2930CU SCSI card device. It also has a msg stating that 'the IRQ is used by another device and cannot be shared'. I have tried swapping the SCSI card with other PCI slot but to no avail.
The other PCI add-on cards I have are the Creative SB Live!Player sound card(PCI slot2) and the D-Link DFE 538TX 10/100 Adapter(PCI #6). The AHA 2930CU is on #5.

I thought of changing the IRQ but I do not know how to.
The IRQ settings are;
#5 SB16 Emulation
#9 AHA 2930CU
#9 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
#9 SCI IRQ used by ACPI Bus

I also noticed that IRQ10 is slated for both the Creative Live!Player sound card and the D-Link DFE538TX. I am puzzled why the network card and the sound card shared the same IRQ!

I am using a Intel 815E chipset on the mobo and Win98SE for O/S.

Thank You in advance for yr response and advice.

I had to reformat after going from a BH6->CUSL2. Did you reformat? Also, make sure the option 'PnP OS installed' is set to 'Yes' in the BIOS. It looks like the mobo is trying to use ACPI, which can cause problems with NICs/SCSIs.

I second the reformat idea when switching motherboards. I just switched to the CUSL2-C from an older Pentium II motherboard and even though I get it to detect almost everything it was very unstable.

Thank You to PliotronX and milehigh for yr response. Indeed it came in handy. I do not know how embarassing it must be for myself, the Plug n Play was 'off'. After I enabled it and immediately after reboot, *firework please* my Yamaha CD-RW was right there.

<< May I ask why disable the SB16 Emulation? >>

it's only used by old dos games so disabling it will free up an irq without causing any problems, that is assuming you don't play dos games! 🙂
