So you have all that speed and can only download 50Gb before you pay overage? Or did he really mean to say 50Mbps for $40???

I assumed the latter. I'd probably be too busy soaking in hot springs with friendly Scandinavian ladies to care though. ;-)

Places described as "paradise" have a distinct lack of humans. If more people go, they get demoted from paradise status. It then ranges from "nice place to visit" to "stay the fuck away at all costs"

Actually that is odd how there is barely no trees there, is it just that area or do they not grow well? Does look nice though. Northern lights are probably pretty awesome there too.

I was just going to ask the same thing...is the whole place barren? I don't think i've ever seen a picture of Iceland with a lot of trees in it

I believe there used to be quite a lot of trees, but that was well over 1000 years ago, before they all got cut down.

Ive just heard some news about a jokulhaup on the Skafta, and a 3.5 richter around the Katla. Previously there seem to have been a 4.5 & 4.6, and the rivers in the area are full of hydrogen sulphide.

Yea the Vikings did a great job with the deforestation. There are efforts to regrow things but it's a slow process

There were some areas with trees but mostly looked pretty barren. While they did use to have more trees I think the hard, rocky ground along with the volcanic activity and plethora of boil hot water springs would make tree growth difficult for a good chunk of Iceland even without human intervention
