It desperately needs a new engine IMO. Valve either needs to make a new one or admit they aren't capable of doing that and license Unreal or Cryengine.

The engine plays a huge, huge role in how an FPS 'feels'. If they used another engine you would immediately notice a total difference in the game play.

I am in the beta and it feels just like CS:S. It's a fun game, but I'm a little torn on it. Feels just like CS:S with a texture mod and smaller player counts. Kind of like, what is the point ? Is the feeling I get playing it.

The Source engine may be dated, but it's one of the best FPS engines for competitive play. The hit detection is better than most every other shooter out there. Looking squarely at BF3 when I say that, terrible hit detection and lag compensation in Frostbite 2.

Who wants to play a shooter with no AIM-DOWN-SIGHT capabilities in this day and age. Pfft.

Kidding, I wouldn't mind getting a beta of this. Side story, a few buddies of mine were reminiscing about the old days of CS and how people are able to spray paint custom pictures. We had a good laugh about how because of CS that I was first exposed to fecal porn and Goatse guy.

lol i am sorry for doing that to you 😛. I remember one time me and another dude were the last 2 guys on opposite teams and the server had team spec only. We just went to the wall and sprayed the goatse spray and made everyone look at it for the rest of the round.

I don't think it feels just like CSS. There are obvious similarities, but the guns are significantly different.

In my hour or so of game time, it is not disappoint so far. It feels like a new game ish but at the same time you cant mistake its CounterStrike. Its already fucking addictive to me. Im glad that I still got my reflexes to dominate casual mode. First time playing a FPS since about March and Im leading scoreboards. Ugghhh new time sink.

When does it come out officially?

August 15 I believe.

In beta right now I don't see dedicated servers. Will be annoyed if it is not implemented on release. I never pinged more than 20 in old cs. Playing in the 80s doesn't feel right for a competitive stand point.
