Its nice to see they are getting ready for patch 1.2 release. Still Crysis looks better on medium settings than most games look on ultra settings. I enjoyed the game, but for me, its the multi player thats not that good. Has anyone seen the Jurasic Park mod that someone is working on. It looks great on the Crytec Engine.

I thought the game was great overall. There were a few weaknesses. A few annoying bugs here and there, sometimes you have to reload a level. Core was dizzying and boring. The final boss was lame.

This is very good news as it proves you can move a respectable number of units on a PC exclusive, even with extreme system demands.

Their next title will blow, it will be rushed, unoriginal and basically weak.
Their next title will be Crysis 2 given it's a trilogy.

I thought Crysis was a very good game but I'm a bit worried about the sequel(s). Now that EA owns Crytek, I guarantee you that the sequels to Crysis will be churned out at a fast pace based on the same engine and with a weak storyline.

I'm also sure that Crytek will make a few Crysis spin-offs for consoles or perhaps Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 will be for PC and consoles.

The only thing EA owns is the Crysis NAME, CryTek can do whatever they want.

The final boss was lame, but the fight against the walker right before that was really tough.

Yeah I dispatched the final guy without getting hit, but killing the strider that grabbed you and chucked you off the ship was hard :D

I wonder what the breakdown in month's sales accounted for the sales surge. Could it be that people are just picking it up now after having so many other good games to play? I myself still haven't played Bioshock, but plan to.

I think it might have a little more to do with the saturation of 8800GT series cards and the 38xx's. People have decent cheap cards that make the game look amazing, even if not at full details.

Could also be that people got hardware upgrades for Christmas and are now ready to play it too.

Crysis is just an overly long tech demo. The game was about as fun as watching paint dry in Korea.

I am ready to see some more developed games use the Crysis engine asap.

I actually found it quite fun until the island turned to ice - then it lost its open-ended gameplay and become rather 1-dimensional.

Crytek can do whatever they want? EA is a monster and will pressure the hell out of them to RUSH to create Crysis 2, if you think EA will go "hay Crytek, great job on Crysis, take some time off, when you get around to it start work on part 2, take your time and make it good"

Crytek can't do whatever they want EA will force them to speed up development, I don't see EA giving them any breathing room. If EA isn't impressed with Crytek's progression speed on Crysis 2, I see them outright buying Crytek so they can absolutely enforce "RELEASE NOOOW!"

If that happens then Crytek will just start up a new IP, such as a "spiritual successor" to Crysis. If they were willing to give in to pressure just like that then they would have stayed with Ubisoft and would be developing Far Cry 2 right now.

EA only rushes games when they are being developed under their own studios. The Orange Box and Burnout Paradise were both made by independent developers and delayed repeatedly until they were ready to be released. Both games came out excellent.

So yes, Crytek can do whatever they want.

I finally caved in and got it on sale despite resenting the fact it ran like shit on my rig! :) Glad I did, its a fine game but I probably won't play through it again until I get a new card that runs it better. Then I'll shelve it until I upgrade again (in 2 years+) and finally play it in all its glory.

But chances are they'll have some expansion or add-on before then, so I'll be fighting off not just aliens, but horrible frame rates, nausea and vertigo sooner than I had hoped. They certainly set the table for an expansion or sequel and the engine has lasting power for sure. Just a question of how well the visuals will hold up compared to other games due out in the future.

runs like shit at what settings?

1920 at custom settings (mostly medium), textures/game detail at High, no AA, 16xAF, DX10, 32-bit. It runs pretty well at these settings until the later parts of the game where things get really choppy (seems a common experience for most) and frames can drop suddenly. Unfortunately, getting noticeably better frames can only be achieved by either turning down resolution or turning down texture quality, both of which result in a big penalty to IQ. I can drop down to 1280x720 which scales perfectly to a 1920 (fills entire screen even with scaling turned off) and pretty much doubles FPS but the jaggies look horrible and textures are blurry. Turning on AA brings performance back in line with 1920 native, but looks worst than just running 1920.

1 million is about as good as any PC first person shooter can hope for. Compare that to how many Halo games are sold. Then compare how much better Crysis is than those knockoffs. Poor PC :(

Probably coincide with the availability of 8800GTs and 3870s. Seriously I wouldn't even consider Crysis if I'm still gaming with my X1900.
