Have the game, enjoying it, but I'm spending most of my time just staring awestruck at grass, so it's probably going to take me 17 years to complete. Running at Very High (max) everything with 4x SMAA on a GTX 680. It is gorgeous, and smooth enough to enjoy (although if FRAPS were working for me, I'm sure I'd be shocked at how low my FPS was; it's still playable in singleplayer, but in multi, I'd get destroyed). As far as the plot goes, it always irks me a bit when they try to set up these "one man to save the world" plotlines. I mean, OK, I'm a badass who's been given a badass suit so I'm basically badass squared, the most dangerous man on the planet... But is it necessary to hinge the survival of the entire human race on my success? That's more than I want to deal with in a video game, frankly. It just makes everything unnecessarily stressful.
I honestly have never seen a better looking video game straight out of the box. With mods, you can make some other games look pretty damn good... and I think this still trumps them. There are the occasional textures that make me think, "ewww, they could have done better than that," but that's more than balanced out by the textures that irritate my fiancee because I wake her up to have her stare at a piece of floor tile and wonder why she isn't marveling at it agape in the same manner I have been for the past five minutes. Even if the game wasn't good, it's almost worth it as a $60 tech demo to impress the friends, and frankly, I've had a great time with it so far (which as near as I can tell is not very far into the game).
So, yeah, I'm suitably impressed.
