Crysis 2 leaked

Is that a low res screenshot? THe second one posted. Because it looks worse than Crysis. Look at the frame of the window...looks crap. The game I'm playing at the moment even looks better than that (Two Worlds 2).

Just checked. It is on the internets. They werent lying. But I suspect anyone who receives or seeds this will get his ass sued quickly.

This would be my guess. I bet those trackers/IP lists will be gone through with a fine toothed comb. I'd rather wait for the finished product anyway.

Here is a comparison between the two games.

The polygon count has taken the biggest hit compared to the first game, which is to be expected given the compromise made in consolizing
Even though this is a beta, the level geometry is likely final at this point.

This is probably the first game where the sequel looks worse than the game before it.

From those 2 shots, I would agree.

...and from an artistic standpoint, at least playing through lush jungles and vast expanses of green and fauna was really beautiful and easy on the eyes, making the gorgeous graphics that much more enjoyable.

It's hard to get excited about yet another romp through a decimated urban center of the future.
If I had a dime for every time I've done that in gaming... :\

**Shakes Fist** at Pirate Downloaders and the person/people who leaked Crysis 2... these people are costing millions of dollars in sales that could have been put back into stimulating the economy from consumer spending!!! Now it'll take a bit longer for the economy to recover...:'(

Well, not to play Nancy Nay-sayer, but chances are these people that are pirating it now may either (a) buy the game when it comes out (b) would have pirated it when it came out (c) won't buy it now that they've tried it (and may have also done 'b' to come to the same conclusion).

In reality, while it's never good to have a game leak so early like this, I don't think it will have much a different impact as it would have when games normally leak.

I don't know how true it is or not, but on another forum I was reading and apparently this version is a Jan 2011 build and all the settings are locked at medium.

Hopefully that is true, cause right now it looks pretty average.

any info yet on whether crysis 2 supports the 360 controller on the PC?

i assume if it does, then the beta would at this point

I read the game starts with medium settings but once you start playing you can adjust - JUST SAYING.

I know a story like this is going to be commented on but SOMETIMES I think this kind of "dirty laundry" (so aptly sung about by Don Henley many years ago) only makes people more aware of the leak's availability...

It's like telling drug dealers, "hey a massive boatload of cocaine was found, as much as you want FREE, if you are willing to take the chance..."

EDIT: Also I am surprised there is NOTHING about it on the Crytek site...

EDIT2: Found this EA statement,

http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?...s-2/blog/crysis-leak&t=Crysis 2 Leaked&src=sp
Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22. Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community. http://www.ea.com/crysis-2/blog/crysis-leak

At this point, I'd say the jungle is every bit as cliched/tired of an environment as any other. There have been a lot of games in the jungle, albeit few if any anywhere close to Crysis, but then maybe they'll take up the destroyed cityscape up a notch as well. That city looks pretty green from vegetation to me.

That 2nd screenshot posted said it was on a dx9 profile. Now I don't know much about high end pc gaming these days, but isn't that pretty old? Makes me think the shot was taken either on lower settings and/or and on slower PC.

Also, while I agree leaks are never good I also believe they won't hurt sales much unless word spreads that the game itself sucks. People who buy games will always buy them if it's worth it. Now that I'm out of school and working, game costs are rather trivial and buying them new isn't a problem. There's a large group who may be planning to buy on release or soon after, so if people are saying the game is awful then it might make some of those people wait till it's cheaper.

One thing that people may be forgetting is that Crysis could be scaled down or way high (beyond the settings in the game). Since this is the same Crytek, I believe that it will be the same for this game.

Remember how much crap Crytek took because people with the 8800 GTX could not play it on maximum settings? We had that debate back then - "Should Crytek had labeled "High" as Very High/Max"?" and the result would have been? Well, the result would have been that it made all those people who love to see the sliders at max ok with the graphics card.

See, it really is just another way to look at it. Crytek may want to avoid that backlash this time because of all the enthusients which should have been happy with them for allowing those settings in game were not and were upset. I don't think they expected that, I really don't. They will likely avoid that. But fear not fellas... There will be INI tweaks which will allow you to turn things up higher, should Crytek decide to artifically limit the game engine.

Can you say "self fulfilling prophecy"??? Kind of ironic that crytek abandoned the PC exclusive platform because they claimed piracy was so bad, and now this happens. If one wanted to be cynical, they could say it was karma coming back to bite them.
However, I am strongly against piracy, and the pirating of the game makes me angry because it is just another reason for developers to justify abandoning the PC platform. Personally, I am not interested in the game, so I would not buy it anyway, unless it is for sale very cheap in a year or two.
Could not they at least add a patch that would prevent multiplayer use of the pirated game??

I'm not doubting this happened, but it just doesn't make sense.

If Crytek put in the various feature sets (graphical detail settings), why Hamstring the product by effectively gutting the highest settings and bumping all the others up a level to compensate?

Sometimes Gamers just dumbfound me (DRM embracement is another).

More to topic, I'm wondering how this performs on newer Hardware.
Hopefully it's been optimized more than it's predecessors, but I'm not holding my breathe on that one.

Having talked to the developers I was left in little doubt not to expect any real graphic improvement over the original crysis. I was told 'gameplay' would be what it was about although it looked like a generic run and gun fps when I played it.
I think the screenshot is rather unimpressive as was the game when I saw it. It was running on a PS3 mind you BUT I was told not to expect much more from the pc version.

and

The screen shot is DX9. The leaked beta doesn't support dx 11.

That's a bit interesting . . . .

karma? how about "they were dead friggin right about piracy and they were smart to go to console

People were posting screen shots and one of the guys was saying it was running remarkably well on medium/low settings with his 8600GT..

8600GT!
