The CELL is like Blackwater, brought in to act as a military force because of the virus, and our military was not trained in dealing with this particular problem, where as CELL is specifically trained for this stuff.

Prophet, who was a supersolider for the CELL, has gone rogue, so basically the CELL thinks you are enemy #1.

Imagine blackwater dealing with a rogue CIA agent in Iraq....

Ah, gotcha...

Prophet was US Military.. not a damn mercenary scumbag..
and this plot still makes no damn sense..

The last thing in this situation would be infighting between US Military and "contractors"..
crappy cheesey game so far..
not impressed.
just goes to show that reviews are bought and paid for.

This. The game is full of more plot holes than Star Wars Episode 1.

You guys got it all wrong.

Prophet and the CELL leader were next-door neighbors. One day, Prophet's dog got loose and took a huge crap on the CELL leaders lawn.
The following week, the dog got loose again and went to take a crap on the CELL Leaders lawn again, but the CELL leader was out doing some gardening and caught the dog in the act. The CELL leader proceeded to kick the dog, ignorant to the fact that Prophet was watching.
To get back at the CELL leader, Prophet banged the CELL leaders wife. The wife then left the CELL leader, stating she "could never go back."
Now the CELL leader is using CELL resources for his own personal agenda instead of focusing on the alien invasion.

Pwahahah...this could be the reason of 90% of today's conflicts.

Since I'm the only person who paid attention to the story in Crysis 2 I will tell everyone what is actually going on.

Spoilers.

Crynet the parent company of CELL has been doing research into alien technology for almost 100 years. Jacob Hargreave discovered the aliens at the Tunguska Event in Russia in the 1900's. Since the virus that is decimating the population of New York is an alien virus the goverment has the company that knows the most about them controlling the population in the hopes that their leading scientist, Gould, can find a cure.

The problems begin because CELL is actually more interested in finding Prophet/nanosuit 2.0 because they created the suit, and Hargreave wants it so he can wear it and be released from stasis and be humanities hero. Crynet is under the impression that their Nanosuit 2.0 is actually spreading the virus that they hoped it would cure. Unfortunately Commander Lockhart who is in charge of the CELL soldiers is more interested in taking personal revenge upon prophet and destroying the nanosuit because his nephew (never specified who his nephew is, but most likely Nomad from Crysis 1) was part of the nanosuit program and had something terrible happen to him.

The nanosuit 2.0 was created by Crynet/Hargreave to be able to learn from any alien technology it encountered. I can only assume that Hargreave in his discoveries into alien technology knew about the spore and he wanted the nanosuit 2.0 to learn a cure for the disease. He unfortunately didn't tell Prophet/Raptor team what it's true purpose was. Prophet became infected with the spore during the course of it learning a way to cure the spore. He was forced to "break the link" with the suit and pass it on before he succumbed to the spore.

Alcatraz is basically dead, and suffering from many broken bones, and internal injuries. The suit sustains him, but he is a dead man walking, a post human warrior. He most likely can't speak because his lungs are ruptured(the game says they are if you listen).

Blah this is taking too long, but it gives a good background into some of the plot points I think most people sped through during their playthrough.

DX11 won't magically make this game look that much better. It doesn't look bad, but it's nothing special at all. Graphics wise, I'd rather play the original Far Cry. I found the artwork to be much better and the overall feel of the environment to be superior.

RPS got in depth and explains why the graphics in Crysis 2 are worse than Crysis 1. Very informative...

That article is a joke. The guy is already biased to begin with the obvious flowery words of his introduction.

"At first glance the textures in Crysis 2 may look improved, with the appearance of more detail, and a slightly more realistic look. Certainly if you were only to run past them that may be the impression you’re left with. But let’s take a closer look at what’s really going on here."

He admits that Crysis 2 does look good at the basic level, but only when you zoom into the texture to see that it's not as good as Crysis 1, so what's his point? I don't run around in the game with my face pressed against surfaces. While some people are calling it consolized, maybe Crytek's just figured out a way to keep the fidelity high while still allowing people with average computers to still be able to run the game.

Yeah, it is called "medium" settings

Shit doesn't fly for "extreme"

im halfway through the game and i actually find the game pretty good.
im not stopping to look at the scenery and i do sense the consolish graphics but it's not too bad.

well....this still su*cks as the game is still completely broken and unplayable for me on a pair of xfired 5970's due to the "insane" flickering issue.

DL radeon pro and force the bioshock catalyst profile. I have a 5970 and it fixes the issue perfectly.

I know huh? I'm only up to the first time you encounter an alien tho, I've heard it opens up and gets better later on, so I'll keep playing, but yeah, a couple of hours in and it's kind of a snoozer so far.
My cousin said the same. He was 2 or so hours in and it was only okay, but he had heard it got better for the last 2/3 or 3/4. A few hours later in he said it definitely did.

I'm 2-3 hours myself. I think it's pretty sweet actually. If it really gets a lot better going forward that is just gonna rock.

Crysis 2 already looks amazing in DX9 mode, so it'll be interesting to see how much more DX11 adds to the visuals. Thanks goes out to "N Baker" for the tip!"

You can tweak the original Crysis ti look better in DX9 mode, it's sad when people think a lower I.Q. = better I.Q. 😡

Probably not. In fact it probably won't even be noticeable to most people depending on what they're trying to do. My only gripe is with the textures which won't be touched anyway so it doesn't matter. Just have to wait for people to make their own textures, just like they did with the first crysis.

Far Cry was definitely the most "open" of them all, so if that's your bag then that's definitely the best. I personally have been enjoying Crysis 2 more than all of them though.

a real eye opener.

The article is obviously for humor. If the majority of the content wasn't a clue, then the last paragraph should seal the deal.

Immediately you’ll notice not only a downturn in colour (almost 32.3% by our benchmark), but also a significant reduction in flora. It’s quite clear that the development of CryEngine 3 for the consoles has led to a devastating effect on the in-game environments, lowered ambient conditions for both AI and NPCs (inevitably as a result of the 360′s eDRAM chip), and a raise in carbon production by over 300%. With Crysis having supported DX12, and Crysis 2 not even shipping with DX11 support, it’s nothing short of a disgrace.

Alcatraz didn't have any broken bones btw.. he was shot by the gunship that slaughtered everyone else after they escaped the destroyed sub..
so yes he may have ruptured lungs from the projectiles/lazers or whatever the gunship shot at them.
but he was healthy when he hit the surface.
and the rest of the story is absofuckinglutley retarded.
Should have stuck with a real believable enemy faction instead of contractors from our own country trying to kill the Military for the suit.
