Haven't seen an update yet, bummer. Was hoping to see something when I got home from work but it doesn't look like it. That's what I get for being on eastern time I guess.

F-ck crysis 2. I seriously considered buying a ps3 and just giving up pc gaming altogether because of the crysis failure. I browsed newegg's site for games available for ps3 and it looks like all the games on ps3 I'd like to play are on the pc too. So even if the games are console ports they still look much better on the pc. I haven't bought crysis 2 and I refuse to until it's about $20, which is what it's worth.
Why is it a failure? It's awesome to me. My cousin bought it and has had no problems. It runs decently at 1680x1050 mid-low details on my rig which is like 1/3 of your rig. It still looks good too. Singleplayer campaign is a blast and MP is good.

What failure? The game is amazing. All the negativity you are reading is from butthurt PC gamers that won't even bother trying the game because they "THINK" it is a step down from the original.

The graphics are as good or better than the original 95% of the time you are playing the game. There are a few textures that are just bad, but there were in Crysis 1 also. This game is a huge step up from the original in terms of particle effects and lighting after you tame the insane bloom effects a little.

Don't listen to the negativity because anyone who has actually played the game will tell you that while there are a few flaws that can easily be fixed in a patch, overall Crysis 2 is a great game. Different then Crysis 1 in many ways, but still great in it's own right.

i've played the game and think it's a step down from the original. suit is inferior, less stealth based more run and gun. graphics are inferior. more crysis/COD than a crysis sequel

I'm having no problems with stealth. If you think it's too run and gun, then that's how you're playing it. I just got done with the first area that had nothing but aliens in it, and I was actually surprised at how I was playing the game similar to how I'd play old school Splinter Cell games. I'd isolate enemies and get a stealth kill, then (while still cloaked) jump over the kiosks to stealth kill the one who's shooting where I WAS and not where I AM 😀 I also remember another one where a few guys were holding up in a building. Well I chucked an explosive barrel in there and shot it before they even knew what was happening. Good times.

IMO this one is much more balanced in how you can approach things vs. the first. In the first you HAD to go stealth or you'd get demolished. In this one you can go stealth, explosives, guns blazing, avoid entirely... all sorts of ways. I think either people had a ton of mods on, or just simply remember it fondly because it was good for the time.

I hadn't played the first Crysis till last week, and I thought it actually didn't look very good when I first started. My first thought was "this is what people have been so happy over? meh..." But with a texture pack it looks fantastic. Exactly what this one needs, go figure. The big thing though was I just wasn't having fun with Crysis. It was wide open sure, but anytime I tried to do something interesting I'd get killed immediately. If I tried to pull that barrel stunt in the first one I'd have no fucking chance. It may be "harder" but it's certainly not funner. Maybe our styles are just conducive to enjoying each game differently, but I truly believe that this one from a gameplay perspective surpasses the first. And this is coming from somebody who played them right next to each other.

Before i say anything; i have not played Crysis 2 yet, but here goes:

Crysis 1 was such an un-optimized piece of software the first thing everyone did after buying the game and running it was ..... well... you guessed it, trying to figure out how to run it so you got to see all the eye candy.

So, lets talk about that for a second. So the game comes out and obviously unless you had a "Bruce Lee" powered video card then you could not turn up all the settings, so most people ended up playing an OK looking game with lowered settings to some extent and whats the point in that ? i remember sitting there thinking; " Hmm I wonder what this game really looks like". Was that fun? no, but the game gained its notoriety for being the measuring stick for PC's while being very unoptimized. How many mods and tweaks came out trying to force the game to at least run smooth with as much eye candy available as possible?

The DirectX issue - we'll thats deja vu all over again, doesnt anyone remember forcing the game into DX9 and having virtually the same quality as in DX10? So, whats the point in now arguing about not having DX11 out of the box? Do you people need to upgrade video cards or something? Tessellation will kill any performance you think you had in turn for some rounded edges or what not.

So we are back to square one! The first Crysis was too tough and people worked around that and made it work. The second is not tough enough and now people are complaining...Enough about its graphics, im just happy that my not-so-dated PC will smoke that game and i will not have to worry about upgrading something like some other games force you too. So either put up, or shut up, and enjoy the game for what it is.

PS: im waiting to see what the first patch does before i drop 60 bucks on it...!!!

I totally understand what you are saying. After reading a lot about the Crysis "phenomenon" and how about it is still one of the best looking game out there...I installed it and played the first 3 hours. Just so everyone knows, i'm playing the first Crysis at 1920x1080 with EVERYTHING at very high except shadows and AA at 8xQ.

While a good looking game it's nothing short of what I expected.

I guess some are extremely difficult while others are not. I'm certainly not a graphics whore but when learning about a game and everywhere the first thing you hear and read is about it's amazing graphics...you end up disappointed...most of the time.

On the other end, the story so far is really addicting and I hope Crysis 2 is that fun!

The graphics literally reminds me of COD now! But then again, The amount of environment interactivity feels different than the organic ones of Crysis 1

Tessellation is particularly good for making things look fuller and rounder in stereoscopic 3D and Crysis 2 was designed specifically for s3d. Of course, consoles don't have dx 11 and most PCs can't do s3d so its easy to see why they didn't bother to wait to release the game. The number of people affected is rather small and patch in a couple of months will solve the problem. As for all the hardcore PC gamers who want the best possible graphics out of the box and couldn't care less about s3d, tough shit.

I have been playing C2 in 3d the last couple of nights..

very good experience!

Is it true that the reverse 3d can give you vertigo when you are up high on buildings? Apparently their 3d gives depth from the tv, not like traditional 3d (everything popping out). Supposedly the effect is an incredible sense of depth when you look down from high points so strong that you'll get vertigo.

Anyone that thinks that Crysis 2 looks better than the first one seriously needs to get their eyes checked, i've just recently finished playing the original with my Radoen 6970 on max settings and no way, not even close does the 2nd one come to the first. The original is a PC game which was made and built from the ground up ONLY for pc's and it shows, the 2nd was clearly made for consoles and ported to the pc hence the low res textures.

I for one won't play it until either a texture pack is released or maybe this new DX11 patch with the advance settings might help as it will probably have a setting for detailed textures.

well....this still su*cks as the game is still completely broken and unplayable for me on a pair of xfired 5970's due to the "insane" flickering issue.

After all the issues I had with my Xfire 4870's, I will never use dual video cards again. They seem to cause more problems than they solve.

to be honest... I'm actually kind of disappointed with my purchase of Crysis 2... It's kind of boring...

I know huh? I'm only up to the first time you encounter an alien tho, I've heard it opens up and gets better later on, so I'll keep playing, but yeah, a couple of hours in and it's kind of a snoozer so far.

The CELL is like Blackwater, brought in to act as a military force because of the virus, and our military was not trained in dealing with this particular problem, where as CELL is specifically trained for this stuff.

Prophet, who was a supersolider for the CELL, has gone rogue, so basically the CELL thinks you are enemy #1.

Imagine blackwater dealing with a rogue CIA agent in Iraq....
