I think it drops. Folks are buying anticpating a rise at end of mining, but I'm not sure buyers take over at end of mining and think the buyers today are the dumpers tommorow. Will be one to watch. Basically a clone of blackcoin (but white!) that took off for a reason i'm not sure of.

That'll be a major run for WC. I been on wafflepool for the past week or so and the pool has been mining huge amounts of this coin. Maybe the operators will hang onto a bit of it.

WhiteCoin is a Blackcoin clone that is going to die after one or two P&Ds.

You guys should look in to Flutter coin & Caishen.

I looked at CAI becuase it's scrypt n. Though from what i've seen Caishen is one of larger scams being perpetrated in the alt-coin world. They did a premine they called 2%, but then they decided to stop allowing for the mining of coins which effectively made their premine 30% of total coins. The dev response was expectedly a circus of rationalizing why keeping 30% of total coins was in the best interest of everybody else and not necessarily a grab by the devs....

Beyond that known charade from the devs there is also speculation they did more premining in a stealth manner an additional large stake of the coin.

The real kicker in this ruse was that the devs were calling the miners greedy!, that's why the devs had to stop mining and keep a 30% premine, lol.

If I had to guess I'd say the entire thing was staged. Basically, call the premine 2% (2,000,000 coins of 100,000,000 for example) then stop the mining at coin 6,000,000 and keep the premine! Winning! This tactic inflated in a major way the premine amount of coins to the total distribution. If they had any integrity they'd keep 2% of total coins rather than the now 30% the premine has delivered into the hands of the devs.

Sure, I will stand by my statement on AsiaCoin, WhiteCoin, FlutterCoin.

Caishen is a bit shady.
But it is currently in a state that you can make some quick money of it day trading.

Edit: Virge_ I know you are waiting to make money of AsiaCoin.
But after a quick P&D that coin is going to die.
Being a Scrypt based coin in the current market is going to lead to its demise.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. There hasn't been a pump yet on AC so I think even if it is a P&D, the pump will happen around the time it transitions to PoS or after the AC multipools start, like what happened with BC.

There is nothing unique or new about AsiaCoin.
It is just a cheap copy of BlackCoin, borrowing the naming scheme of AuroraCoin, Mazacoin.

Agree with your prediction about the Pump.

So incorrect it's funny. But hey, keep thinking that. Look at the community involvement and the hash rate and realize it's in for a roller-coaster ride after next Wednesday.

Everything you just said is more accurately applied to WhiteCoin (which is an obvious scamcoin). You basically showed you have not even looked at AC.

I admit I haven't paid much attention to it.
I had the chance to be in the initial club of miners as i heard about its announcement on one of the forums before the mining started. I took a quick look at it & thought it was not worth my time.

Maybe i will regret it, maybe not.
Time will tell.

I mean i thought Doge was a waste of time (common on, I wasn't the only one), but now i realize how wrong I was.
I still don't like the stupid memes & jokes behind it. It is not funny to me. But it is to some people & the community involvement speaks for itself. I actually found a meme poster of Doge in a Men's urinal at my University back in February when it was getting popular. Should have got the memo.

Lets see if AsiaCoin is the new Doge.

The fact that you're even comparing AC to Dogecoin means you simply don't grasp it at all.

It's better to compare it to BC, but not the shitty scam-coin pre-mine bullshit that is WC. WC won't last weeks, AC was designed to last years.

I know technology wise it is closer to BC. Its POW+POS I believe.

When I compared it to Doge I meant to say that there are a few people like me who think that it will die off in the sea of coins, same as some thought with Doge.

But instead it could rise to have its own following like Doge and become one of the major coins around.
 
What's encouraging is that the AC developer(s) are planning to launch multipools to provide buy support for AC similar to how Sudopool does it for LTC and DOGE and how the various BlackCoin multipools do it for BC.

Seems to be a decent way to stabilize the value of the coin.
 
How hot do you guys usually let your GPUs run? Now that ambient temperatures are warming up it's starting to noticeably affect GPU temps. Before spring my GTX 770 would max out at 80, now it pushes 95C (and throttles back at that point). But NVIDIA says the max temp is 98C, and it's designed to run reliably under that temp.

I know that's a temp that would make most enthusiasts shudder at, but I'm inclined to take NVIDIA's word that it's a safe temp, since I'm sure they've tested the hell out of it.
 
It's "safe" in the sense that you won't burn your house down, but I thought everybody knows that higher heat degrades the lifespan of the product. So if it would have lived X months at 85C, it may live a lot less than X months at 95C. Plus fans spin faster if hotter and in my experience fans are often the first parts to fail. I keep my GPUs under 85C at all times if possible.

I'd assume it's engineered to last the lifetime of the 3 year warranty below the stated max operating temp, no? I see a lot of people freaking out about high temps, never seen anyone actually burn out a card though. If X months at 85C is 60 months but at 95C its 48 months, that's fine by me, I dont intend to keep the card for that long. The card doesnt even shut down to protect itself until 105C.

Whether its 85C or 95C, the fan is still running 100%. The higher temp just means the clocks get throttled less.

I've burned out a card and it took out my motherboard with it. It happened while I was away on vacation, it was over 90C for a few days straight despite fan being set to ridiculously loud levels. Reference 7970 74% fanspeed. Even if the GPU and fan could handle it, something else gave... maybe a VRM or something else on the PCB that was well over 90C. If I were home, I would have known something was wrong and done something right away, but I wasn't. Anyway, you may be worrying too much about the GPU temps and not enough about other components. In my experience, the GPU is usually not the first thing to give way; it's more likely a fan busts or something else on the PCB other than the GPU busts. Maybe hotter temperatures accelerate lubricant evaporation on the fans, for instance. Then again, I underclock/undervolt so of course my GPUs run cooler and last longer, and someone else who overvolts/clocks may find that their GPUs are the first things to give. YMMV.

I've also found that running fans at 100% is a great way to lower their lifespan and force an RMA.

You are very optimistic to think that companies engineer their cards for mining loads for years on end. First of all mining is more stressful than any game in existence. Secondly, mining is 24/7, whereas gaming is on average less than a few hours a day. I seriously doubt video card engineers plan for 24/7/365 mining loads for years on end. Would you honestly expect SSD engineers to plan for maximum writespeed writes for 24/7/365 for years on end? Do auto engineers plan for cars to be run 24/7/365 for years on end at max speed?

I've been promoting X11 for weeks, now. During the day when temps peaked I'd switch my miners off scrypt and do a 75/25 split on X11 coins - last few weeks have been DarkCoin and HiroCoin. Due to the difficulty as of yesterday I had 5k DC and 20k HC.. and decided to pull the plug and sell the DC @ $2.8. I had around 3k DC banked already from when it was just released, so only gained about 2k in the past month with maybe 120mhash on it average 6 hours a day, so not especially amazing returns until you factor in the 380% price raise it just did.

Not bad for a 4-6 hour a day switch that I've just been using for a few weeks to cool my cards. Now with HiroCoin in the double-digit difficulty levels still I'm curious if I should put more hashpower on it as a predictive method.. given that the equivalent of maybe three to four solid days of DarkCoin mining just netted me almost $14,000.

With my 270x, I'm getting maybe 1 DRK if I mine a whole day. Which is similar to what I would get with VRT
