"...some of the capabilities of the Cry Engine under DirectX 10 API: dynamic day/night cycle, fully interactive enviroments, sunrays and diffuse transmission, real time soft shadows, soft particles, interactive/destructrible enviroments, volumetric clouds, advanced shader technology"

Nice. The video was posted in Software, but this link calls it DX10 and names these special capabilities above. Drool.

(Who would have thought the Germans would have developed this?)
Are you serious?

Germans are smart bastards, just look at all the cool things they did in WWII. They had the best weapons, always coming out with crazy stuff that wowed enemies.

Anyway, it's still just an implementation of DX10. Don't give zee Germans all the credit.

Gee I wonder if John Carmack, the most reknowned graphics programmer in the world agrees with you.

Good idea might be to wait and see what id's next engine looks like before bashing the holy name of id (who own you and created the entire FPS market of today)?

Peasants.

True, but they still got completely stomped out by my grandfather and many others.

As far as weapon superiority, thats what happens when you prepare for mass war for years and years.. and the rest of the world is thinking about peace.
Thats where the superiority in weaponry came from. Not some innate intelligence.
The whole aryan intelligence thing? yeah.. thats not really true (sorry to break it to you). And it doesnt make their cars any better than asian or american cars either :frown:

Efficient and industrious are traits TYPICALLY held by germans due to environmental conditions (ie. family/social values), not some magical german quality.

Though west germans complain of east german laziness, due to years of communism. I know many Germans and this is their firsthand opinion working in german business.

american cars? hahaahah!

german cars are beyond compare, excepting the odd italian luxury ones but you can't count handmade half-million dollar works of art (ferrari, buggatti etc)

Sure thats why German cars have taken over the American landscape? Doesnt seem to be so huh?
American trucks dominate easily as far as marketshare, and japanese cars have taken a major stronghold (alongside with american cars still). But German cars, not close to the American or Japanese sales numbers in the USA.

The Corvette Z06 is beyond anything the Germans offer as far as price/performance and sheer engineering is concerned. Simple, fast, cheap (relatively) and exceptional gas mileage for a 505HP beast that can road race or drag race with the best of them.
Of the Big Three, GM has made great strides in my mind to remain competitive and appear fresh with their technologies (Displacement on Demand, OnStar, a 7.0 liter pushrod V8 that gives near 30MPG, ect).. and actually are attempting to compete in the small car market unlike Ford with the Cobalt and Aveo.
I commend them.

Regardless, I just wanted to make it a clear distinction that these german myths of intelligence are not in anyway some kind of innate superior quality.. they arent "smart bastards" they are just people who prepared for war for years.
And as a side note, you are wrong about "german engineering".. thats a nice selling point to the mindless masses, but about it. As long as they can make you believe that, and unless you dont know anything about how any of these cars are designed.. it means nothing.
You can design a supercar or some fancy POS all day long, but it was Henry Ford who made it practical and accessible for people to own a car.. not the Germans. And there is nothing wrong with current American cars that does not exist within german created vehicles as well..

if there are major engineering flaws with the Big 3's vehicles.. you'd better get on the horn and let them know, maybe a genius like you could get paid big bucks to fix their designs for them? :disgust: People like you disgust me.
Since you know (I'm sure) what makes a german car.. *ahem* "beyond compare" :wine:

germans are just awesome. They developed rockets, missiles, jets (shared info with Japan during the later years of WWII), and awesomed the french into submission. The germans were, are, and forever will be awesome. Their food is good too :)

BTW, Did any of you know that the US officially entered World War I in my home place of Guam :) Yahhhh. Started after a german captain scuttled his ship in Guam's main harbor.

"german engineering" is no myth buddy. They simply create superior machines with premium price tags. They can charge the premium because they can. Think of them as the newest cpus such as AMD64 4000+, and the Americans as 3500+. They may not provide the best bang for the buck, but they are definitely better because they spend more on R&D. In the US, any auto maker with an oriental name has to work extra hard to gain market share. Believe me, if they bring back the 1998 F-150 and sell it as 2005 model, it would still be the best selling vehicle in the US, not because this body on frame truck is that great, but way too many are simply buying the image of the truck. Have you noticed 9 of 10 Chrysler 300C/Dodge Magnum are souped up with huge chrome wheels? Why make it slower and consume more fuel? Because they wear their cars like jewlry.

Speaking of "selling points for the mindless masses", same applies for "like a rock" or "built ford tough". There are perfect reasons why the Detroit Big 3 gets no respect anywhere else in the world except the US. Only in the US where Honda has to gain "political expertise" from GM by selling their hybrid patents. We live in a world where bias dominates. So sad, why can't everone be more open minded.

I think we've all been "fan boys" once or twice in our lives, but it takes a lot to grow out of it.

The Germans never had "the best weapons" in WWII. The US had the best weapon. The first thing that comes to mind is the A-Bomb. All German achievments to military science is buried by a mushroom cloud. To list other examples: Guided bombs were first invented by the US Navy. Radar and Sonar were all allied technology. Allied codebreaking and espionage was superior. Airborne warfare (gliders, parachutes troops, air transports, etc.) were better. Allies had better naval operations, better bombers, long range fighters and superior piston engine aircraft.

To sum it up the allies had better weapons in just about every thing that mattered. The Germans may have had rockets and jets, but it didnt really help them much in the end.

In 1945 the Luftwaffe had plans for a Heinkel jet fighter plane which would not be equaled until the 1960's with the Russian MIGs.

They did not develope an A-bomb because Heisenberg and a few others miscalculated, claiming it was impossible. When the German team heard of Hiroshima after the fall of the Nazis, they swore it was propaganda.

germans are smart as fvck.....they are stupidly efficient, the russians/ukraine places like that, maybe poor but they have some of the brightest people ever, the russians are certainly not stupid. some of the stuff they made/invented is truely scary

i love the russians. they have the biggest helicopter in the world heh....it can lift over 20ton and has 2 engines.....12,000 horse power EACH.
