Does the M500 have a super capacitor against sudden power failure?

I thought I saw this mentioned in the announcement back in Jan, but am no longer sure if this is really the case.

Someone needs to get 8 of these and put them in RAID-0.

No point in that, since M500 is not the fastest drive out there.

But, as been said several times already, this drive is not slow (just not the fastest) and serves a different need (namely single large-capacity drive at an extremely attractive price point).

The m4 had some nice performance increases from firmware updates. I wouldn't be surprised if the m500 has some coming in the future.
What I'd really like to see is a decrease in the idle power. Its idle power is fairly high, nowhere near as low as the power-sipping Samsung 840 Pro. I wouldn't want to use an m500 in a laptop for this reason.

I wonder how much of that idle power consumption is going to maintaining the DRAM, might not be much that can be done.

Is the DRAM amount on the 120 the same as the 960? Cuz the idle power values for those two models are in the same ballpark.

Man, a whole Watt. That's too much.
It is actually. Remember, this is at idle, doing absolutely nothing.

Every Watt counts. For an ultraportable, total power usage at idle might be well under 20 Watts, with the screen on. In fact, I've seen measurements under 15 Watts. With the screen light off (but the machine still on at idle), power usage is much, much lower.

So, a Watt can mean as much as 10% or so of the idle power usage, in a laptop with a low power CPU and integrated graphics (like Intel HD 3000).

No, but just because the larger volumes have more DRAM doesn't mean it's actually being used when they're testing power draw.
