Crossfit like gym

Is there a term or word or something to categorize a crossfit like gym? I pretty much hate everything about crossfit except the team / community aspect of it. Something more akin to a power lifting program, but has that group mentality?

I am just tried of going to my gym solo (well, technically my GF goes with me, but we don't work out together) and there is nobody that isn't nearing 80 at my gym.

Join a power lifting gym...? lol

I was a member of one many years ago, and there was a "team" like aspect to it because it was a small circle of people. Just none of the crazy shit you end up seeing in a CF gym.

My question was are powerlifting gyms more "team" oriented. Or, is there at least some kind of term for a gym like this that isn't crossfit. Unfortunately, everything about the community of crossfit appeals to me; I just hate the mentality that I need to do everything as fast as possible. I also really dislike running.

The one I went to, it wasn't really a team per say, but they did compete at events. As far as I know it wasn't a "team" power lifting event, it was all individual. Honestly, I'm not a power lifter, nor was I ever & I have not gone to a meet. I'm not sure if a "team" power lifting thing is real or not.

Well, surely you like to kip, right?

I don't care about competition, I just care about the community at the gym being involved.

I don't really know of any in Illinois... there may be some though.

Edit - Closest I found was Quads in Chicago, but there isn't much team aspect there, just really really helpful and friendly fellow members.

I see. So... Why don't you just make buddies with people at any random gym then? You'd feel close/like a team, etc.

Otherwise, sounds like the only choice is to look for tiny privately owned gyms, like something run out of a storage unit/garage type of thing, and hope they act like a 'team'.

I'd love to start a Gym that has a lot of weight lifting equipment and only enough treadmills for you to do some warmup on. I don't think the population exists where I am that I could pull it off though.

Heh, I tried. There is nobody that goes to my gym interested in group or community lifting.

I might just bite the bullet and join a crossfire gym and deal with people trying to "decrease my times" and such nonsense.
