Crist to run as an Independent in November

Didnt see this one coming /yawn

Although I seem to recall during a debate between Crist and Rubio, Crist said he would NOT abandon the Republican party and run as an independant of he lost the primary. I might be mistaken though. A lying politician...whodathunkit
 
Crist is a moderate conservative, Rubio is a conservative conservative.

Florida will have a decent Senator either way.

Democrat Kendrick Meek won't be a contender against either of them. Any other FL Democrats ready to throw their hat in?

I more wonder about Florida election law. Namely, at what point in time does Crist have to burn one or the other bridge behind himself. In a best case Crist scenario he would be able to contest Rubio for the GOP nomination up to and until the GOP nominating convention on August 24, 2010, and if he lost to Rubio then, he could have a shot of winning as an independent with the Crist name on the Florida printed ballot as an "I"

But in a worse case scenario for Crist, at what point in time, likely far short of 8/24 must he choose to go for the GOP nomination or trying to get the Christ name on the ballot as an independent, with the at the time date option being to do one or the other but not both. Very few write in candidates stand a ghost of a chance unless they get their name on the printed ballot.

You are having a Freudian slip, maybe from the anti-Israel postings. The guy's name is Crist, not Christ.

Though, if I could be assured that Christ was really on the ballot I might just move to Palm Beach and vote for Him in that election.

I don't think JC would deign to subject Himself to the dirty politics we see here, there and everywhere.

Cheer up PJABBER, I had it 2/3'rd right initially and have edited out my one lone typo.

But it still does not answer my question, or your delusion that Meeks or some other DEM might win in the event Crist and Rubio split the GOP vote. Early polls are notoriously unreliable.

You had two typos and one still remains to claim that Christ is going to be the next U.S. Senator from Florida.

And my expectation is that Rubio will win in the end, though Crist would likely not be a bad U.S. Senator.
 
It's the irony of politics, good you maybe but if your constituents doesn't want you anymore it's time to be independent or should I say you become irrelevant? If only he didn't suck ass the "Messiah" he's probably in better shape than Rubio!

There is no room for moderate conservatives in the Republican party. The GOP has gotten onto the Teabagger bandwagon, from which anywhere left of the far right is socialist big government oppression. That's the whole point.

Umm...its not the Republican Party who pushed Crist out but Florida voters. The party establishment was behind Crist from the beginning. Its just Crist decided to embrace (literally) Obama and his failed slush fund of a stimulus.

There is no room for moderate liberals in the Democratic party. The Dems have gotten onto the far left progressive bandwagon, from which anywhere right of the far left is nazi germany. Thats the whole point.

Pot meet kettle. If you want an actual moderate liberal Democrat look at Bill Clinton. Obama may have pretended to be a moderate liberal when campaigning but there is a lot of evidence from his own writings, speeches, actions, and associates prior to his Presidential run to indicate otherwise.
