Man, that antipornguy.com guy is f-ed up!!! He needs to get laid (maybe by a guy, or better yet, a minority guy 😉 ).

Before you take action, take some time to examine your own reasons for what you want to do. Are you really calling the cops for the good of your family? Or are you doing it because you are angry and fed up of having to live in a drug filled environment?

I get the vibe that you're kind of at your breaking point about this and just want to shock your family into stopping the drugs. While it may work in some cases, I doubt that it would work in this case. Your father and sister have their own priorities and they dont match up with yours, but really this is their life, they are free to screw it up. Yes, it does effect you, but in your current situation, you dont really have a choice. If you choose to live at your dad's place and arent paying rent then you really dont have too much of a say.

If it bothers you that much, drop out of school and use the money to move out. If that sounds too much, then you know that your priority is school first, then a drug free home.

Well the way I see it is if you tell on one person for doing drugs then you really have to tell on everyone you know doing drugs. You did say that you have friends that do drugs. Wants the difference there. If you don't like your friends doing the drugs you go away from them correct? So if you don't like your sister doing it either just leave the house when she does. Also if you do call the cops and your sister and dad both get arrested you better hope your dad has the house paid off because if he goes to jail then he isn't going to be making any money and not going to be make the house payment.

I doubt the cops will come by just cause she's smoking weed. I mean, they might, but imagine the call "Can you send someone over, my sister is smoking weed!". I dunno where you live, but around here I doubt a cop will come by just for that.

<<but around here I doubt a cop will come by just for that>>

she has already been arrested for possession and intent to distribute....

OK - look at it this way. Lets say you call the cops, they come to your house and haul your sister off. I doubt your dad will like this - and he'll make your life at home a living hell. So weigh your options out: Let her smoke, or have your dad on your ass. It's your call. And I'd call this more of a "problem" not a crisis.

hey all you idiots, cops are not bad, they are not out to GET you, The police are there to HELP!! Moonbeam and Isla you should be ashamed!!!

Dedpuhl: I say call them, they will help your family through this problem. If your family refuses their help and kicks you out, at least you will have tried to help your sister to better her life. If she and your father refuse? well... At least you have done your best.

HAHAHAHAHAH, OMG, LMFAO, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

When you refer to "cops", are these the same "cops" that confiscate a person's automobile when their kid is caught with pot while driving it?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Based on your statements I would say that if you call the cops you will be ending your relationship with your family. Your dad will kick you out and you probably won't be welcome home during the holidays. Consider carefully making a rash decision like calling the police on your family, It is a direct violation of trust. You may also want to consider that maybe your father smokes with your sister and sees nothing wrong with it. Get off your high and mighty horse, if you don't like your family stop taking advantage of them.

RGN

I never said cops were bad. I like cops. I think they are sexy. 😉

The problem here is far too deep and complex to be solved by bringing the authorities into it. A family intervention where everyone gathers around to confront the drug user might be useful, but the family has to want it.

A social worker or professional counselor would be preferable to calling the police.

Let the police deal with more pressing issues and follow a more level headed course of action first.

I have worse stories but I won't bring em up. But I agree with you - Cops aren't counselers RGN, once she's put behind bars - their job is done. Plain and simple. What makes you think that thay'd help his family through this problem??

ISLA:I do agree with the above statment, but sometimes the best way to get a family to aggree to talk to a counsler or some other professional is through police intervention. Remember we are dealing with people who are WILLINGLY breaking the law. It usually takes some external authority to open a persons eye's to the seriousness of a given situation.

genocide: What do you think she has bales of the stuff around? I doubt it... The law may vary from state to state, but it takes a LOT (I'm sorry, I don't know the weight) in order to even make a trip to the police station worth it.

I'm saying - in the event that the cops do show up, she's gone for posession. Doesn't matter how much she has, she'll be locked away for a certain amount of time.

Ded:

I loathe and despise drugs, but I do not think you should call the cops UNLESS she is dealing out of the house. If you don't know, you are in a very difficult situation because her dealing will get YOU in a lot of hot water. Also, your father should be aware that many states have drug forfeiture laws which could cause your father to lose his house, if, for instance, she is dealing heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, or one of the other big bad drugs. I doubt that would happen for small grass sales, but maybe you could talk to a lawyer at your school to find out for sure. Some schools have lawyers on staff who will talk to students about these problems. I think you need the advice of a local lawyer regardless. So does your father.

Also, family counseling CAN help, and sometimes it can be obtained at no or a reasonable cost.

Frankly, I think your dad is making a big mistake tolerating drugs in his house. Both of my boys tried drugs but they never brought them near the house because they know how I feel. It would have been rumble time, and I am not kidding.

<< hey all you idiots, cops are not bad, they are not out to GET you, The police are there to HELP!! >>

Your reasoning is flawed. Cops are there to "help" when there are emergencies, such as a crazy lunatic with a gun shooting at people. Cops are also there to arrest people who do minor things, which certainly doesn't help the arrestee.

Here's some cut and paste for those who don't want to decipher a statute:
---snip---

D. Possession of marijuana. (1) Except as provided in Subsections E and F hereof, on a first conviction for violation of Subsection C of this Section with regard to marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol or chemical derivatives thereof, the offender shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars, imprisoned in the parish jail for not more than six months, or both.

(2) Except as provided in Subsections E and F hereof, on a second conviction for violation of Subsection C of this Section with regard to marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol or chemical derivatives thereof, the offender shall be fined not more than two thousand dollars, imprisoned with or without hard labor for not more than five years, or both.

(3) Except as provided in Subsections E and F hereof, on a third or subsequent conviction for violation of Subsection C of this Section with regard to marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol or chemical derivatives thereof, the offender shall be sentenced to imprisonment with or without hard labor for not more than twenty years.

(4) A conviction for the violation of any other statute or ordinance with the same elements as R.S. 40:966(C) prohibiting the possession of marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol or chemical derivatives thereof, shall be considered as a prior conviction for the purposes of this Subsection relating to penalties for second, third, or subsequent offenders.

Looks like she'd have to have an awful lot of maryjane-more than 60 pounds-to catch any serious time. But, I wouldn't rely upon our reading of the criminal laws! Hah! Particularly BF's reading. You'd get the electric chair for sure. Ask a lawyer.

<< Ask a lawyer. >>

You're one to talk. Your lawyer hasn't been right about anything lately.

Edit: And you don't think 6 months is serious time? For most people that would fsck their lives over pretty well. Not many people have a large enough savings to pay their mortgage with no income for 6 months.

Don't listen to chess9, he's still pouting because his boy lost.

BobberFett: It's ok, Bobber Baby, you don't have to hold onto the "your lawyer" jokes. All your little buddies will still give you the secret handshake and whatever else you rubber heads do. 😛

Anyway, no one gets 6 months. Don't they usually suspend the sentence first time? They do here. Also, even if you get 6 months in Florida, you'd probably get out into a half way house in a few weeks. No, it isn't serious time.

But he shouldn't rely on a dweeb like you. He should ask a lawyer.

<< Anyway, no one gets 6 months. Don't they usually suspend the sentence first time? >>

I thought you were knowledgeable, but I was wrong. Sentencing is entirely up to the judge. She might get lucky. Or she might run across an asshole who gives her the works.

Is it hard work being a sore loser? I'm not sure I'll ever have the chance to try it, so I'll just have to take your word for it.
