credit card Paypal vs Non-credit card Paypal

What is the difference? Looks like most of the buyer wants non-credit card paypal. What is the big deal?

Pay with non CC fund, it's not hard.

sorry for the misunderstanding, I mean the seller wants the non-cc paypal fund. Does that means paypal won't charge fee on non-cc paypal payment?

PayPal charges fees for CC paypal funds (to cover the CC fees).

They pass those fees on to the recipient of the funds.

Non-cc funds are free to transfer.

As Viper GTS already stated it has to do with fees.

Personal Paypal - no fees to accept paypal payments but CANNOT accept credit card paypal.

Premier and Business Paypal - fees are deducted from ALL incoming Paypal payments even if it's non-credit card Paypal.

I did not realize that even though people pay with non-cc I get charged the fee. I finally realized it and started accepting both types of payments when dealing with paypal.

Yep that's what sucks.

If Premier and Business Paypal customers were deducted fees on only incoming cc payments then I would upgrade.

But if someone sends me non-cc pp and they take out fees?

No $#!# way.

What are the disadvantages to downgrading to a Personal account besides being unable to accept CC funds?

Maybe I should do this. I stopped taking PayPal all together because I hated the fees. It took too big a chunk out of my profit, especially when added together with eBay fees.

None.

That's why I remain a PERSONAL account holder, 0 fees.

My wife on the other hand who does a lot of eBaying has a Premier account, so if someone HAS to send me cc Paypal they send it to her.

I think in that light, paypal is probably competitive but I haven't done the legwork.

yup, i found this out the hard way too. pissed me off so bad i canceled my account. now i only have an unverified account. if someone HAS to pay CC, i can take Visa/MC/AMEX anyway, i'm paying another vendor for that service why should i pay paypal?

A lot of people have two types of accounts. One for accepting CCs and one for accepting non-CC funds. But it would mean you would need two check accounts because you can't have the same account hooked up to two different paypal accounts.

You could sign up for an account with Paysystems which offers a lot more than Paypal does.

However there is a $50 setup fee, fees are deducted from each transaction BUT there is no monthly fee or minimums and you are paid every Friday directly into your bank account via ACH.

Actually, the 3.95% has a $1 charge per transaction. The $.35 goes along with a 5.5%. Not so hot for me, but probably good for a small business needing CC payment options.

2.2% + 30 cents is NOT a big deal considering how convenient it is. I once had a seller bitch and whine over the fee over a 15 dollar transaction. That's less than a dollar. That's LESS than going to the post office, getting a MO, then sending it.

That only applies to people who are getting the merchant rate, otherwise it's 2.9% + .30. For you non math wizards, that's 5.9% on EVERY $10 transaction (and the effective percentage goes higher the further below $10 you go). Makes no sense for what I'm selling as they'd be getting most of it in the end.
