I thought they released it, but now I can't find it anywhere online or in a store. Any help is appreciated 🙂

Also... any benefit to the platinum over the standard edition? I don't mind spending the money, but I want to get the kewl one 🙂 I am not spending that much to get the Fatality one or the super duper one... waste it seems to me.
 
Bestbuy is where everyone seems to be getting them.

They had the Plat. and XtremeMusic last time I went in stock.

I work at Best Buy in Burlington, NC and we have about 3 Plats and like 8 XtremeMusics in stock last I saw.

The only difference between XtremeMusic and Platinum is that the Plat has the front bay I/O and remote.
 
As far as I can see all over the web, it will be back in stock on the 17th of this month.

I can wait until then 🙂

The next EAX standard type deal? Whats replacing the Audigy2 I'm assuming?

The X-Fi is the Audigy's replacement. See AT's review for more info.

i wanted to buy one from best buy, but not wanting to pay shipping and going through the hassle of ordering off their stupid website, I stopped in and asked for an X-Fi, figuring they would order one in for me, just like the old days. Nope. Everything that Best Buy does just pisses me off. God damn it.

i prefer the experience of x-fi on nice sennheiser headphones to x-fi on 5.1, but that's me. i have plat and like it.

Yoyohowsdajello, btw, since you seem to know a lot about sound;
Is there a good sound card with which to hook up my compy to a ht system. (7.1 infinity 1000 watts sony receiver with optical digital and coax in, no analog)
I definetely want true 5.1 sound, but i also want some kind of eax, because i will mainly be using this for games.
 
Yea ditto wo ReliableData... I'm going to use it with nice headphones. I want the platinum for the front drive so I can plug the headphones in and out with ease. I have decent speakers but since I almost NEVER use them (they are turned off), I just want something I can hook up my headphones to.

I am upgrading to the X-FI because I'm only using onboard sound, and it sucks 🙂

If you don't have 6 channel analog in (or 8 channel in your case), then the only way to get surround sound from games would be to get a soundcard that can encode DD in realtime.

There are a few offerings out there... I'm using the HDA X-Mystique and it's working quite nicely. It only has EAX 2.0 because I think Creative has the higher degrees patented or something?
 
My local Best-Lie had em but now they only have 2 Platinum versions. I'm waiting for the fatality one to drop to 200 or less before I get it.
