Anyone else notice they said "put a bit of diesel in it"? This is a diesel truck? No wonder it survived. It doesn't even need an ignition system. Try this with a regular gasoline engine.

Isn't that what they call gas? Or is that petrol?

For gods sake. To all you people determined to not be impressed by this are sad.

1 - It was for fun, not an experiment
2 - You cannot deny that a car, any car, that is washed away at Sea and starts again deserves respect.
3 - They could have just totaly destroyed it with the wrecking ball, but where is the fun in that?
4 - Whatever anyone says, the building demolition thing is amazing. THE THING STILL DROVE-THE DRIVETRAIN WAS STILL OPERATIONAL!

We call diesel diesel and petrol petrol. Or as you call petrol, gas.

Petrol as in petroleum spirit. (i think, at least :p)

It's not a diesel. I noticed that too, must've just been a slipup.

Not necessarily. Take a gasoline motor that has been sitting for a long period of time, where the rubber is drying and cracking.

Pull the spark plugs, squirt a tiny amount of diesel into each cyl., hook it back up, quickly crank it a few times for very short periods of time. Then let it sit for 30 minutes or so, crank it a few times more, then let it sit again. Then change the oil. Next time you start it up, voila. Minimized damage and is completely drivable. :)

It was pretty funny but the thing was tied down on top of the building. you can see the straps. If they would not have been there it would have been alot worse.

The truck was placed atop of the building, which would be the side to fall last, any cars or trucks would have survive riding the rubbles down. I've heard stories of HUMAN that were capable of that (9/11). So in short, it was a very good commercial.

Very good points, I'd have to agree

I wish they would show Top Gear here. It's entertaining even if it often has cars that aren't sold in the U.S.

And what do we get anyway... MotorWeek? Car and Driver Television? Blah.

I'd have to disagree, no human has ever made it from any of the top floors of the Towers, it's exactly what you said: Stories, and doesn't add anything to this discussion.

I love my '93 Toy 4x4. 135k on the clock and it still drives like it did brand-new. No unscheduled maintenence ever.

hmm, i love the blatant, only this truck could stand up to this.

lets try another truck. there is no proof other trucks cant stand up to this, they just only showed one truck. and everything was done with a top to bottom damage, do horrizontal damage and see what happens, most truck cant stand that, frames, drive trains, wheels.

Sheesh, it's just a cool video of a truck being brutalized and surviving! Can't you guys just enjoy it without overanalyzing everything?
