Crazy for wanting Wii U?

Never had an interest in the Wii. Played them at friend's houses and never had a desire to get one. Looking at the Wii U and am strangely drawn to it.

Crazy to want one? Certainly not.

However I'd recommend you stick to the standby 'wait until there are 5 games released that you want for it' rule. Not a dig at the Wii U at all. It's more of a rule that should be loosely followed for all console purchases.

Do you have a 360 or PS3?
Unless you really liked their first party stuff(what's out and potentially coming in the next year), I can't see a reason to. But that's just me. Some people enjoy having the newest of everything, which is fine too!

Well if you like gaming with a controller and are sick of using controllers designed for elementary school children then you should want a Wii U.

glad to see nintendo didn't make an artificial drought of these. just checked gamestop and nearly all of the ones around have it in stock with a few others saying limited supply.

I am pretty intrigued too. My kids love Mario, and enjoy watching me play it when I get the chance so I am thinking about getting one next month for my birthday. I know it wouldn't get as much play time as my 360, but between all of us it would get used enough.

I'd really like to have one but am waiting it out because there aren't enough good exclusives yet. If you own a 360 or PS3, there's not too many games you haven't played yet that are on the WiiU. Once a new Zelda comes out, that's when I'll get it as I'm a Zelda lover.

A new Zelda would be at least 2.5-3 years out though. Can Nintendo survive that long? I also feel that they rely way too heavily on the following formula:

Mario game, Mario Kart game, Zelda game (whenever it's done), Mario Party game, 2nd Mario game, Mario Golf game, and near the end of the console 2nd Zelda game.

Their new IP is sorely lacking. The last time I was excited about something original from Nintendo was Pikmin, and I actually only bought that game because they were sold out of SSB: Melee but was pleasantly surprised.

Currently have PS3.
Interested in Just Dance since I don't have PS Move
Nintendo Land, new Mario, and ZombiU all look interesting

Bought a Wii U on launch day, kept it in the box.

Have 360, have PS3, have PC, have Uncharted 3 to play, have baby on the way...

Returned it after thinking about it for two weeks.

No new IP but at least they actually try to innovate and give you a whole new game with a new world and new unique and unforgettable experience. Not like they add some levels and items to the same game again and again.

what was innovative about dkcr, nsmb, mario kart wii, metroid prime wii, latest zelda?

i thought galaxy was very well done on wii, although i think the waggle controls played no part in that game.

and don't get me wrong, i loved dkcr and nsmb on the wii, but there was nothing innovative about them. they were just classic platforming fun.

i just don't think they are really innovating at all anymore like they used to be. i'd personally prefer a mario 64 sequel over a mario galaxy sequel. to me, their classic IP's aren't bring anything new to the table at all. not that it's necessarily a bad thing, i'm just personally pretty burnt out over it.

I feel this way too. This is why I am waiting. They need to have a good 3D mario game and maybe a zelda game then I might buy one. It all depends on whether or not the next xbox and playstation take off by then and have competing games to play.

They have to be great games though, I mean better than skyward sword for which the motion controls detracted from the quality of the game IMO and as you mentioned, waggle controls in Mario Galaxy.

I'll probably end up getting one for Zelda. Although after playing Skyward Sword on PC via Dolphin emulation and seeing how freaking unbelievably awesome even Wii games can look if properly rendered and then output in full and glorious 1080p

Mario U runs in 720p, not 1080p. nintendo under delivered on this one

1080p Mario on pc 😉

A lot of artsy Wii games hold up rather well if all you do is increase the internal rendering resolution. The lack of HD is huge reason why I strongly disliked the console now that I think about it.

Dolphin emulated wii games looks good for the most part. Especially 2d stuff. Games like COD look pretty poor though.
