Oh boy have I got a story for you Platinum.

Not only did those people charge me the stinking 15% restocking fee, they jipped me on the taxes as well. I went back to the store and made them redo the entire transaction after an extended explanation / arguement with the cashier, who by the way I convinced to back me against the manager who she then had to argue with.

Basically they refunded the sales tax on the REDUCED amount. The nerve!!! If I am returning the product, there was in no transaction - NO SALE. No sale = no sales tax! Duh! Give me back every stinking penny or Ill have a class action lawyer on it so fast your stinking heads will be spinning.

They gave me back my $1.60. Yes it was just a $1.60 but you multiply by that by several thousand transactions over years and you are talking some major change.

Buy big items locally from stores other than Cusa and BB. PM to CC and buy there or go to an office store and toss on a coupon. I personally like how CC takes back items within 30 days even if you don't have a legit reason (or any reason at all).

The sad thing is most of you expect top-notch Customer Service...yet you only are willing to pay dirt cheap retail prices...can't have it both ways suckers.

What do you really expect at a B&M? A computer science expert you can wax philophical with? Get real! If you demand dirt cheap prices, be prepared to deal with minimum wage/unskilled employees.

I can fully understand a restocking fee on video cameras, 35 mm cameras and digital cameras. The reason being you get a huge amount of customers coming in and buying the camera on their credit card to use for a week or two to capture some special event. Then they return the camera for 100% money back, and the store is forced to take a hit of usually a hundred bucks or so an item because nobody'll buy at full price.

Lastly, it really is your fault for not reading their return policies before leaving. Nothing moronic on their end of things. :p

it is because i will spend over $40k on hardware this year and they will get NONE of that business and all that over $9

were you ready to write them a check for $40,000 in return for $40,000 credit?

If not, why do you expect CompUSA to believe you were going to drop that much money at their store. IF they took your word for it, then they'd have to take everyone's word for it.

Best Buy was the worst when I tried to return a video camera an hour after I had bought it. Their policy states that a 15% restocking fee will be applied to opened video cameras. I handed the sales lady the intact, unopened box, and she told me they would still have to charge me the fee. I asked why, since it was sealed, and she said because they had to open the box to make sure it hadn't been opened. I said this was horsesh!t, and asked to speak to a manager. After a few minutes of arguing with the manager, he finally let me return the damn thing.

"FULL FVCKING RETAIL" = dirt cheap.

If you want service, you have to PAY FOR IT you cheap bastard.

Paying retail doesn't include the service DUH!

Some of you guys have WAY too much time on your hands.....it would cost me $1.60 in gas to make the RT from my home to CUSA and back.

you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about service do you.

i'm not asking them to DELIVER the sh1t. i'm not asking them to help me INSTALL THE sh1t. i'm not wasting their employees time regarding WHAT I SHOULD buy and what not. i know what i want when i walk in and i buy what i need. IF what i get doesn't work the way i NEED it to, then YES i expect those SOB's to refund me 100%. that's not CS.

. that's just plain good store policy.

cheap bastard??

But in the grand scheme of things that $40k is worth sh!t to them......sad but true. If on the other hand you were going to whack down $1/2 mill then you have a point but even that is probably not going to dent their sales much......

Yeah just go some where else next time. Just a bad CS and manager screwed you over this time :(. Maybe next time you could look out for a decent manager or so...

Also you can't expect a CS person to know that you have spent loads of cash there before. I'd imgine it would be tough to remember their customers that spend big.

Why do you expect a 100% refund?

1. You don't have a legal right to a 100% refund
2. It's no secret that CompUSA charges a 15% restocking fee

Get over yourself, just because you go to CompUSA 3 times a month, doesn't mean that the employees should automatically recognize you. Fatc is, you ain't that important to them...take your biz else where...I'm sure CompUSA won't shed a tear.

Yikes, 40 grand! Well they have situationally effed up big by not eating a measly $9, but look at it from their side of things.

I worked in the computer dept. at my local Best Buy for a year and routinely got dragged down to customer service to explain computer specific issues and policies to irate customers. Most of them claimed to be purchasing a sizeable amount of hardware in the forseeable future in the vein that it was better not to piss them off. Most of their woes could have been completely avoided simply by reading our damn policies, and it isn't our job to outline them each and every customer. You'll understand if the manager is tired of the same old story time after time - I was, but at least I could occasionally escape back to my own department and away from the complainers.

You were ultimately in the wrong, but your revenge will come in living a far better life. There ain't many hells worse than life as a retail manager. :p

Damn that sucks.

I would have talked to someone else seeing how much business you do with them. I once returned a $199 3d Card at CompUSSR and I asked them about the 15% restocking fee, but the guy kindly waived it.

Sneak in the restock fee with your bill to your client. They won't feel it.

I say dont expect them to bend the rules for you even though they've done it in the past. Anways, 15% of two cheap webcams will be what, $10, big deal.

sounds like you bought something before checking to see if it was compatible with what you were wanting to do with it. I say you deserve what you got.

You always say it doesnt work, then you can avoid the 15 percent restocking fees. Not like they are gonna hook it up and check if it works.

calm down, dude.

1) why did you get so irritated over a .15/dollar restocking fee on a grand total of $18?
in addition, do you understand that your relationship with the manager who knew you was exclusive? you're not some customer god who they talk about and agree to give slack to.

you overreacted, and you made yourself look like an ass, pretty much. 15% of $18 is $2.70. chump change.

I really don't want to end my day on a bad note, what with being a jerk and all, but you really have to grow up. You're a married man with kids. You are expected to maintain a level of dignity. Keep it.
